I like this type of storage too. You can put a lamp on top, or a decorative item. They have larger ones that also function as a bench, or a tv stand.

I have a shower downstairs that no one uses.  I put a expansion clothes rod in the shower and hang  in there some of our extra coats, jackets, etc.

 

On the floor of the shower I store my large packages of paper towels, toliet paper, kleenex, etc. from Costco.

 

I slide close the shower door and no one but me knows what is stored behind the doors.
