On 5/20/2014 mominohio said:I've lived in Ohio all my life, but when I was about 12 we traveled all over the country one summer, camping. We spent time in Albuquerque, and it was such a beautifully different environment that I was accustomed to. Would love to make that trip again.
I thought about a thread for yesterday, asking who camps or used to. So that was neat to see. That trip sounds great!! Yay for those memories, right!!?!!

Our home is on the Bay. I am in my office which has all glass sliders that lead to a pool and large deck. Just beyond and looking down is the beautiful Bay with boats, ducks, heron, and jetskis going by occasionally. This weekend we will have many more boats and action for the Memorial Day Weekend. At night we can see all the lights from the Atlantic City Casinos to the right and Long Beach Island to the left. It is a beautiful view if you are a beach/ocean person ...and we are

Being I'm at my cottage for the holiday weekend the look I see when I look out our windows is my beautiful lake. I see our dock and my pride and joy sitting out there...our 1962 Chris Craft wooden boat. Love my summers on our lake. Great thread.

Sitting in my sunroom, I see very green backyards and the start of lilacs blooming.

Love this thread! I live in Florida where my favorite view is from my screened in back porch. We have a very small back yard that a previous owner almost completely concreted as a large patio, so I have large ceramic planters full of flowering scrubs & summer flowers. I also have a mosaic bird bath out there. But the best part is the view of woods behind out house. They are state protected, so nothing will ever be built behind us, at least in my lifetime. I have bird feeders hung from the trees on the edge of the woods. I love to drink my coffee sitting out there and watching the birds & squirrels play early in the morning. What a great relaxing way to start the day.
All of your views sound so inviting. Enjoy!

The view from my sliding door at the back of my house is a mixed grass and moss lawn shaded by ten or so birch and pine trees. The backyard is surrounded by a small wetland, creek and woods. I have part of a stone wall from probably the mid 1880's when the area was farmlands with jack in the pulpits, violets, honeysuckle and a large male holly tree.
I see lots of birds including robins and bluejays, some squirrels and chipmunks. I used to see deer and foxes but in recent years new houses in the area have reduced the wooded areas where they travel. When I first moved in there was an owl in a tree in the front yard and we get hawks here and there.

I can't wait for the bushes to bloom. Hibiscus, mums, roses and lilies.

I was so happy to see this thread today, as yesterday I had two amazing surprises to my view. Our usual view from the main living room window overlooks the back of the property, which is composed of many very old pine trees, grass and wildflowers, as well as much younger apple trees that DH planted some years ago. We live in a rural mountain area with an array of plants, trees, and wildlife. The tops of cattails by the pond are barely visible right now, but not the pond itself. The side of the shed in view has a sweet grouping of two huge sedums, two small ones nested in between, and a tall blue birdhouse on a old wooden base along with an Uncle Sam holding a flag.
Just to the left, along another smaller shed, the irises are in bloom, and the hostas are filing in nicely. A huge deck surrounds two sides of the house, the main side that we use, being covered by a roof. It's a family gathering spot in the summer as there are several very comfy chairs and a nice big cushy swing to sit on and stay out of the sun. The other side of the deck is for sun lovers, as it's open and overlooks the apple trees to the right of the deck. In the other seasons when the trees are less full, you're able to see the lake across the street.
I had two beautiful, and unexpected additions to this view yesterday. Early in the morning just after finishing my coffee, and a beautiful doe and her baby strolled by together. The fawn was the tiniest I've ever seen, but kept right up with it's mom. Their beauty never ceases to amaze me........
Later in the day, just before dark, I was upstairs and caught sight of two huge black bears strolling through this part of the yard sweet as pie! One stopped to check out one of the apple trees to see how the blooms were progressing. He was on his hind legs and stood very tall within the tree. His partner kept walking slowly, and soon they went off together. These aren't unusual views for us, but their beauty and especially the majestic sight of the bears will always keep me in awe of the beautiful area we are blessed to be living in. The bears aren't seen as often as the deer and other animals here, so they always bring excitement when I catch a glimpse, and wait patiently to see them again. pinky
