It's on an island, only 28 miles north of Stockholm.  There's something appealing to me about the simplicity and whimsy of Scandinavian holiday style.

Nice to have a bright fire greet you at the door.   And a vintage swan ( goose?) too.

European kitchens intrigue me, as they tend to be the most different from ours.  Swedish kitchens often have the interesting contrast of rustic and folk elements, combined with more sleek modern ones:

Not sure, but I think this is a corner of a bedroom.  Has that feeling of both cozy and airy.  Love those little antique carved chairs-- they have a naive gaiety--

My favorite room is the dining room, which feels like an enclosed porch, with the original paint, and the bright windows all around.   Love everything about it, including the fresh wreaths with ribbons, and the way the table is set with folk art red candelabra ( so Swedish ), and red flowers:

Given a choice, I'd probably choose a warm-weather Christmas, but the way that Swedes celebrate it has a sweetness and warmth all its own.

Lovely home.  Much larger than the average European home, I believe.

@Oznell

I love this light and airy look for Christmas, so beautiful and not as stifling and drowning in stuff that I find our traditional Christmas decor to be at times.

Anymore, I find I appreciate the lightness of fewer well thought out decorations.

That entrance is so welcoming and charming I love the white walls and green trim (that green tone is lovely), the fireplace and I love that oversized goose!

Beautiful dining room and well it's all beautiful....

I also really like the glass shelving over the oversize window in the kitchen holding their clear glass pieces. I imagine some lightly colored glassware here and there playing with the light like stained glass...

So pretty, I love Scandinavian simplicity. Smiley Happy

Re: SWEDISH COTTAGE CHRISTMAS

It looks like there's a beautiful stove in the kitchen, but the kitchen lacks good storage. I wouldn't be able to reach those glasses & I'd have to use a ladder to constantly dust those glass shelves. Other items are exposed or behind the sink's curtain. Maybe they need to lose a little window area in order to have storage. Maybe change out the gorgeous kitchen table for an island with some storage.

The color story in this cottage is very pretty.

I like this style a lot.  Simple, elegant, like the colors/decor used.  Not the overdone, decorations stuffed everywhere, kind of style that I've seen so much of lately.

Re: SWEDISH COTTAGE CHRISTMAS

First, what a pristine, tranquil setting.

Love the hardwood floors.

My favorite is the unique fireplace/mantle in the bedroom with the beautiful pale blue walls along with the carved chairs.

The dining room is beautifully decorated. If those are hardwood floors, they are amazing!  The lighting is an interesting choice, that is the one thing I think I'd change.

Thank you for this fun post @Oznell

@Oznell   The first photograph of the home on the water is enchanting.  I wish the interior were moreso for me. Cat Wink

Re: SWEDISH COTTAGE CHRISTMAS

@DSD2 ,  I kept looking at that little fireplace too.  It has that charming, unexpected rusticity that seems so central to this style....   Agree with everyone also, that simplicity and understatement is the key to understanding the Scandinavian decorating mindset...

@GingerHead ,  and @Desert Lily,  I love it when posters analyze the kitchens in the Home threads!   Always learn something.
