Needs a pop, imho.  Think black or dark green or blue cabinets would give it added depth.

@stevieb. Lovely.  I'd like to see the rest of the home if this is the kitchen.  I'm imagining a stone manor house totally restored.

Kind of a cool space!!  But I'm not feeling that table and chairs AT ALL.

@faeriemoon  I don't care for the table either... I do like the chairs, but would have picked something other than the saddle color leather... They likely thought it worked with the parquet wood flooring, beams and table, but it doesn't work for me... Clearly, they wanted an all neutral space... I might have opted for some color or, as a more neutral alternative, somethng to pull in the grey cabinets...

@stevieb  Agree.  I feel exactly the same about the chairs.  In fact, I have some of those chairs (RH) upholstered in ivory linen.  That saddle leather just doesn't work.  Perhaps pairing the chairs (once a better fabric is chosen) with a type of metal/ironwork table would be both suit the feel of the room AND look better.

Re: Rustic Yet Refined Kitchen...

I really like the pattern of having a comfortable table and chairs in the center of the kitchen. It's an authentic, homey farmhouse way of living. You finish in the barn or the fields or the garden, wash up on the back porch, come in and have a hearty midday meal before going back to work.

But that seems at odds with the silver cabinets and chandelier. And shouldn't form follow function? I can't help thinking about those cooking the meals, day after day after day. While it's good that there's a generous amount of space, the layout of the kitchen seems like it would make working there both laborious and messy.

That's awesome, I'd love to have a large kitchen like that.

Re: Rustic Yet Refined Kitchen...

It's nothing I'd choose, but I wouldn't turn it down, if it was given to me.  However, that lower shelf on the table?  Very impractical.  I could see myself bashing my knees or shins against that every time I tried to pull my chair in.

The table and chairs would have to go.  And the chandelier is just too fussy for a kitchen; especially doesn't go with that modern light over the sink.

The soft color palette is nice though.

Re: Rustic Yet Refined Kitchen...

It's a beautiful kitchen.  I'm  trying to imagine butcher block counter tops? I'm thinking it might tie the table in better...or maybe pretty green cabinets?

That table is beautiful so I would try to do anything (well almost anything lol!) to keep it there. I'm fond of table and chairs in the kitchen. I know islands are in but this makes more of the statement I would want.

Re: Rustic Yet Refined Kitchen...

I would rather have a large island, suited for seating & storage, instead of the table & chairs.  I would not want to dodge around people sitting in those chairs while having to serve.

Re: Rustic Yet Refined Kitchen...

Wow, I really like it, even tho I don't like SS, I would put up with it.  However, I would change the chairs.  They don't seem to go with the table and the floor.
