Lenox Solitaire is really beautiful. I don't think you have to try to make yourself love Old Country Roses just because you're inheriting it. Maybe just keep a cup and saucer out and think of your relative when you're using it.

I agree with the poster to use it with love. It is a gorgeous pattern, pretty and delicate. Use it and enjoy it.

It's a beautiful pattern. My mother has it and I think it's quite lovely. If, however, it's a bit too traditional or, dare I say, 'prissy' for your lifestyle, consider mixing and matching it with more basic dishes and serving pieces. I've seen her mix it with a traditional but very plain bone color ironstone and it works beautifully together. Both are on the traditional side, but one is a bit fussy while the other is more stark. I'd also consider skipping the table cloth and using it with an un-fussy runner and simple solid place mats that coordinate. I don't personally see this pattern mixing well with more contemporary tableware, but with other traditional looks that are very simple.

As I recall, this came in three colorways, the original and blue (Moonlight Rose) which are pictured and a more muted choice that it seems to me was similar to the original but with more toned-down colors and a bit more rose and mauve.

If you really love roses you will truly love these items.
I have this burgundy, yellow, pink OCR pattern which I began collecting many years, and I also have the identical pattern in the blue tone which is called Moonlight Roses.
Since they are both floral, they are vibrant, beautiful, and either pattern mixes quite well with white, or any of the colors in the floral designs.
I have service for 16 in each pattern along with a great number of completer pieces which have been collected by myself, and my beloved Mother.
I entertained a lot through 45 years of my first marriage, and still entertain in large numbers of guests now.
I have other Lenox and Noritake bone China too, but Royal Albert/Royal Doulton are amongst my absolute favorites.
You will definitely come to love those OCR items and if they are made in England as mine are they are worth more than the items manufactured elsewhere.
We used to save then for Company, but for years decided to use them for ourselves as well.
Here are some pics of the original Old Country Roses and the Blue Moonlight Roses Patterns which I have and love:
Both patterns--absolutely beautiful!

I absolutely adore this pattern and would love to have a set. I do have China and I set my dining room table with it and leave it on the table all the time so I can enjoy how it looks.
If people come to visit me we sit at the table with the china and if I serve a little something to eat it's there and ready. I use it as part of my décor the rest of the time.
I like this pattern because it has such beautiful vivid colors and a lot of colors can be used to coordinate with it for linens and other pieces. Yellows, pinks, reds, greens, beiges, ivory, white, etc. I would even mix it with other patterns even with Fiesta.
You will learn to love it even if you don't think you will. It is fun to have a good set of China even if very seldom used. I love to have a variety of dishes so I can change out and use something new for a while when I get tired of using one of my sets of dishes.
Use that Old English Roses china for the love your aunt had for you.

Thanks Daysdee and I really enjoy them and the compliments I get whenever I set the large dining room table for guests.
The completer pieces of OCR fine china roses in a fine china basket for my 2 table centerpieces add to the beauty, as do the OCR porcelain and gold embellished tall candle stick holders, and pretty kitty cat salt and pepper shakers on each side of the table.
