Re: Revamped Florida Ranch House...

@stevieb

Thank you for what you shared.

Interestingly, last night I saw a video by a "blogger" who showcases home decorating.

Blogger was so enthusiastic about the guest's wonderful talent and how she had decorated her ENTIRE home.

We were only shown a sitting, dining, kitchen combination area.

Re: Revamped Florida Ranch House...

@ECBG  It's interesting... Sometimes I think it's an editorial choice what gets included and sometimes there's the assumption the homeowner might not have wanted certain rooms photographed for wide circulation. There was another bedroom included in this spread but in this instance I made the choice not to include it, as I didn't think it was anything particularly special... More blue and white, as it were and while I love blue and white, well, I didn't judge it to be very interesting.

Some of the colors are too much and none of the ceiling light fixtures are attractive!  The house design is very nice... cottage-touches...

Re: Revamped Florida Ranch House...

I think the property this house is on is beautiful. It is a very nice home and I love almost everything, but i would have to remove lots of the plants in the front of the entrance. JustI too much and would look better with less. I would also put the outdoor table and chairs on a paved area and add some cushions to the chairs. The DR chair covers I wil never understand. I really love the touches of blue and white that are not overwhelming.

Agree on the plantings in the front yard. Doesn't appear to be attractive landscaping there to me either. I love the wrought iron furniture but yes, would prefer to see it elsewhere than on a pebbled area and it does need softening with some cushions.

@Nonametoday @You really should use EXTRUDED aluminum. No RUST. Lasts forever. It rains here so much that this is a major consideration. You also need screens on the windows, if you plan on opening them, or you will have a gazillion flying things in just a few minutes. They fly into my home if I leave the front doors open as we bring the groceries inside. Between each group of grocery bags we bring in, we have to close, go in, go back, get more stuff, reopen doors, go in. Almost all windows that open here have screens on them.

Pretty sure that an architect helped the owners revamp

theatric to allow the high ceiling. Most older ranch homes did not come with high ceilings.

@Mindy D

We have sealed windows and use storm doors.  I know none of that holds up in really bad weather but I like having the sealed windows, double glazed.  I think our "wrought iron" look furniture is made from some kind of aluminum, not real wrought iron.  It just looks like wrought iron is what I am told.

@stevieb  My favorite room is the dining room. I like that hint of antebellum sumptuous wood and white chair coverings. I just don't care for the chandelier. I think the decorator could have chosen better. The blue and white lamps are nice too for the room. Love the dough bowl centerpiece.

Re: Revamped Florida Ranch House...

This does not look like a Florida home.  I really love it. They did a great job with it.
