Removing Plastic Stopper on Slatkin Reed Diffusers

Just received my first Harry Slatkin reed diffuser.  Having some trouble getting the plastic stopper out of the glass bottle......I don't want to break the neck of the bottle or loose any of the oil.......any suggestions??  Thanks!!

@Texas Gray Wolf I get out my kitchen shears and grasp the area between the plastic stopper and the glass top of the diffuser.

Pops up easily.

Make sure to hold the diffuser base so it doesn't spill.

May not be the best way to do it, but it works for me!

I used tweezers and kind of pried it up. A mini screw driver or anything that you can get under the rim..

Edited to add:  be sure to hold down on a flat surface.

I used the shears this way, too.  I do recommend holding the bottle over the kitchen sink though just in case there's some spillage.
