The table is the only thing I would consider keeping but the room as is is cold and uninviting and without any appeal for me.

@wilma  I like red and white in a kitchen but for whatever reason this falls flat.  Perhaps they could use a black and white small tile floor or even a gray wood floor would punch up the feel of this room.

Quite alright, Lovely!  It's just fun seeing different pictures, especially with magazines being so expensive, then unfortunately thin.  I really enjoyed the variety and at any given point had at least three decoriating subscriptions which I used in class too, but they were SO enjoyable.

It's nice to see something to spark conversation.

Why I used “rustic”...

I’m not an expert in interior design terminology. I can tell when I read posts that some people have a lot more knowledge on the subject than I do. 

I simply choose photos that I think are interesting, beautiful, or unique in my eyes. I use the words that make sense to me when I post & describe rooms. I also try not to use words that might offend. In this case “rustic” was the “best” word I could come up to describe parts of the room that I didn’t like.

Hope you didn't feel I was lecturing you or striking out at you in any way with my answer, I really didn't mean for it to sound like that, and it was/is never my intention on these threads about posted pics with comments requested in this Home forum, so I'm really sorry if I made you feel that way. 

I will admit that I initially did not like the almost over taking of the Home forum with the posting of stock pics from the internet and then everyone commenting about the design. I feel it has pushed out a lot of more personal home topics about our own homes and things we are doing/considering etc. But I realize that they are popular with others, and get many responses, often more than the more personal topics that get posted, so it is what it is.

But what I do like about them, and why I have started responding to them more often, is they are not personal. Several posters here are doing this, selecting stock photos, and inviting critique on the subject matter. It feels 'safe' to critique the style, colors, designs, choices and be frank and honest about them, because it is an anonymous thing, not one of our fellow poster's personal pictures (we used to get lots more of those). 

So my comments were not at all about your choice of words, but about the 'designers' choice of furnishings in the set up.

 Again, if it seemed otherwise, I do apologize. Not my intention at all!

I don't dislike this room as much as so many of you. Would I want this for my main home--absolutely not. But I do think it looks like a little weekend cottage on the lake that people live in until they tear it down to rebuild a 6 bedroom, 5 bath home that might be lovely, but doesn't have that cottage get-away charm.

All the red pieces would go well with a 50s vignette.  Add some black, & maybe yellow, a jukebox .. would this make a cute 50s diner?  Start dancing in your white socks & saddle shoes

No apology needed. I did not feel lectured. I just felt the need to explain my choice of the word rustic since several people commented on it. I think one of the drawbacks of this forum is our words aren’t accompanied by voice tone & facial expressions which add context to comments. On the other hand, maybe that’s a good thing. 😉

As I posted I know others know more about this topic than I do & that’s ok. One of the things I like about the forums here is sharing & learning more info from other posters. 

I understand your feelings about stock photos in this forum. I’ve posted a lot of them. I think it’s interesting to discuss a photo, and I agree it’s a fairly safe activity. I have posted photos of my own home & received both positive & negative feedback which can definitely be eye opening.
