The rechargeable bulbs look interesting to me...I need a lamp in a spot where there is no electricity...these bulbs would fix that for me.
Has anyone purchased the bulbs and do you like them? I do not want to order online but I have looked everywhere in local stores and of course no one carries them.

I bought some from HSN when they first came out there. Sent them back b/c they are not bright enough for me. Fine for mood lighting but for me that's about it.

No, they're more trouble than they're worth. First you must screw them into a lamp with electricity to charge, then put them where you want them. Over and over. Okay to use for emergencies but not routine regular use.

@Mom2Dogs, I have those bulbs in at least one light in each room but they are lights that are used on a daily basis and when the power goes out have saved me and my pets from injury by not bumping into things.
However, they would not be practical for the situation you describe. Depending on which bulbs are being used they only run from 3-6 hours before needed to be charged.
Upgraded bulbs are frequently being introduced and they are currently much, much better and brighter than the original but still can't compare to electric power bulbs.

Fudge....although the lights I needed would not be for task lighting...just a light where there is no outlet. I did not realize they had a short life span before needing to be recharged.
I wish stores carried them I really do not like online ordering when I need to study what I am buying .
thanks for the replies.

Small table lamps that plug into a USB port are available.
Much easier to manage and inexpensibe! I have a light that plugs into my computer USB port....no outlet there!

I bought some from the Q maybe 9 years ago and they still work. I use one in the livingroom, also family room. It isn't my main light, but it is on in the corner. I use it as a regular light/lamp with a soft light. If the power goes out it always works. Now it isn't the brightest light bulb, but always helps by the time we get our power batteries, and candles lined up. We get a power outtage a couple times of year.
They are reliable, and have been very helpful. I haven't replaced them in all these years.

I love these lightbulbs and have given them away. They are great to have in areas where the power frequency goes out. Yes, the bulb is charged by being used in a light fixture. Use them in my living room and in the hallway ceiling fixture. When the power is off the ceiling light is sufficient to cast light into the bathroom when the door is open.
@Mom2Dogs, they don't seem to suit what you need. Have you looked at lamps that run on various different batteries?

@Etoile308 I guess I am confused. I have a small lamp that I wanted to use a rechargeable bulb for the light. I want to use the remote when I need the light on....which is not all that often, but if the remote has a timer I can set it for a few hours each evening...this is how I thought the lights were used, and again there is no outlet where I want to set the lamp.
Isn't this HOW the bulbs are used? Or maybe my use of the word rechargeable is not correct. I have also seen where these bulbs were used in vessels that were not actual lamps but a vase or something similar.
I wish I could go into a store and look at the bulbs.

I have such a dark spot with no outlet and have pondered a rechargeable lamp.
What has always stopped me is the fact that at some point it will need to be connected to power. Either a cord must be run or the fixture must be moved.
Let me count all the items I already charge......even the toothbrush 😬
What are the odds this one will be dead when I need it.....
