Re: ROOM WITH RARE ACCENTS OF PURPLE

@Oznell I'm surprised but I like the chairs!

I would definitely paint what I could in white. I also think changing our the rug would make a big difference. Ditto on the artwork. Smiley Very Happy

Love the contrast of light and dark plus all the vibrant color.

Re: ROOM WITH RARE ACCENTS OF PURPLE

Purple is not a favorite color of mine so I don't have it in my home decor or even much of it in my clothing.  I don't mind the purple color used in this room but, the furniture style (especially that club chair), prints and artwork really do nothing for me.

Contrary to others comments, I like the dark wood and would never consider painting natural wood.  I think it brings warmth to the room.

I don't hate those chairs---but am not a purple girl---in small doses-- maybe in prints but not in such a big way. It does brighten up the place tho--

Re: ROOM WITH RARE ACCENTS OF PURPLE

More than just purple 'accents' in my opinion and also in my opinion the decor is just awful. The room is a nice space, but there isn't a single thing I truly like about the way it's furnished or accessorized. It's just too loud. I like lilac, lavender and pinks and I even like a more muted aubergine, but this, well, loud about says it. Agree, the woodwork is very dark and while I might consider painting some of it, first I'd give the decor a complete makeover and then see what I thought.

Re: ROOM WITH RARE ACCENTS OF PURPLE

[ Edited ]

@Oznell

You're right, you don't see rooms decorated with dark pinks and dark purples....

I like pops of color and this room does look very cozy and funky fresh (in a good way) I think with a couple of small changes I'd love it.

I think you're right about the dark wood, that needs to be whitewashed and if I'm keeping all that pattern, I'd need to tone down the contrast in the stone of the fireplace

but I'd rather keep that stone as is (I love that type of stone on a fireplace) and tone down the patterns in the chair and pillows on the couch and maybe change out the art above the fireplace with a big mirror.

I had fun playing around with the picture a little and made the patterened chair solid green, changed out the pillow color to match and put a big mirror above fireplace (a little too big but I'm limited in my choices)....this is a very rough looking copy and not very refined (kind of grainy)  but these are small changes (I can't whitewash the wood in the picture) that I might make (I hope you don't mind my changing it up!)

Thanks for another fun post!!!!

Amazing tweaks, @GingerHead -- love that you show us options like this!  I think I like Tweak 2 the best.  That chair going to leather is perfect, and a lightening of the cabinet is another of the touches the room needs to be more lively. Good job!
