Cote de Texas strikes again! Here she features a stately Mexican country house owned by an antiques dealer and her late husband. She lived there, near San Miguel de Allende, and in Washington, but is now selling her Washington town house and moving to Florida. The town house is huge and formal, but this Mexican beauty interested me more.
What a fittingly expansive entrance hall. There are the obligatory pups, enjoying the cool stone floors!
Entry drama, courtesy of antique screen and extraordinary credenza that must have a "well" in the front:
Love the starburst mirror, chandelier, and that classic wood column.
A feminine and cozy sitting room.
Ethereal blue and white dining room, Swedish-style chairs.
Gorgeous Mexican armoire:
More exquisite dining room details...
Cavernous but warm, inviting kitchen.
Charming back staircase, leading from kitchen to upstairs.
Guest bedroom (with vaulted ceiling) that I would love to stay in.
Interesting bedroom vignette. I like the owner's adventurous taste in art.
I wish we could see more of the grounds. Here's a glimpse of the gardens, behind the owner and her son, and those cute doggies again.
Like a story book!

I see nothing "Mexican", not even a Spanish influence, just lots of junk. I wonder if a front lawn comes with the place?

Can I please come for a visit?
Gorgeous!

I like the Dining Room, Bedroom, and stairs going up from Kitchen.
Not a home I would want as my own but I would love to vacation there once a year.

Love the style, front door and look of the front the house. Do not like any of their artwork at all - do not like the furnishings either. Not much of the interior works for me.
Like the kitchen but those big round wicker chairs around table would have to go as well as the chairs and baskets on top of the cabinet - what a wierd idea putting these items on top of cabinets. Also I think it is very dangerous having wicker objects on those tiny back stairs hardly any room to place your foot.

I do like the two dogs.
The outside of the structure appeared nice.

Sorry @Kachina624 but 'one woman's poison' as they say. Agreed, not much Mexican influence, which is probably why I think it's a lovely estate, overall, though there are some changes I'd make and some of the art choices need to go. Different strokes, but sorry, the SW, Mexican, Spanish vibe is just not one I much apprecaite in decor. The kitchen is fabulous. Love that green cabinet with what appears to be a nice collection of blue and white inside it.

@Oznell I was intrigued by the house so went to Cote de Texas and read the story and looked at all the pictures of the Washington town house. I can't relate to her overall style. Sure their are pieces and parts I like. I am not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination and I love blue but to me, it was all to much. Overwhelming to me. I'm sure the trained eye and professionals see so much more than I do in her style. Thanks for posting the pictures.

What a beautiful lovely home!!! I love the dining and living rooms, the furnishings and decor and the sitting room is so pretty. I love all the art work and basket touches. There are many details which add elegance to this home. The outside is so appealing also. It's a winner for me and my taste!!!!!
