RE-DONE KITCHEN WASHINGTON STATE

The kitchen was described as dark and disjointed before. Designer LeeAnn Baker took on the challenge, in the Medina, Washington house of a retired Microsoft executive.

I love the color chosen for the hard-working island--

Nice that the rug picks up that color...

Pretty butler's pantry--

The only other space they mentioned renovating was this bathroom.  I wish they had shown the living room too!

I like the airiness of the bathroom, and yes to the fireplace.

One thing I wouldn't have done in the bath, heavy use of black frames.  Black window frames were definitely 'trendy' for a while, but, in my opinion they rarely look "classic", except in a clearly industrial-influenced space, where they fit in well.

However, a quick paint job would remedy that.

They didn't even show the full outside of the house, except for this tantalizing snippet--

Medina seems to be quite the place, situated as it is on scenic Lake Washington...

@Oznell  I agree with you about the black window frames. I was never a fan. Other than that, the colors are very pleasant.

I like the look of the throw rug in the kitchen, but it may not be for older people who spend a lot of time cooking. Just speaking from experience. Smiley Sad

Those are great double ovens, the doors open side ways instead of opening down like a traditional oven!!

Beautiful, I love everything about that kitchen, I too love the color chosen for the Island, and the rug just brings it all together.

That bathroom is gorgeous, love the fireplace.......The big windows probably makeit seem bigger as well.

I would love to see the rest of this house!

I love, very modern yet classic home. I don't care for black window frames, but I guess I could get used to them ...lol.  Seems like such an odd choice being window frames and windows are a main purchase, so expensive.  I think neutral ones or even panel ess woukd bring the outdoors in more. Love the home though. That bathtub must take hours to fill!!!  I would need a lift in and out of it, lol. But for looks I love it.

Speaking of the bathtub, I just replaced a similar "soaking tub" with a large shower.  Those sides are really high to climb in and out of, and I felt it was an accident waiting to happen.  I guess I'm lucky that I could still get in and out at my age but didn't want to tempt fate. When I picked it out 11 years before I just wasn't thinking about aging issues.  Now I'm happy with my great big shower -with a seat and grab bars for the future.

It's an attractive home.

Wish there was more to see.

I love the kitchen and butler's pantry! So pretty. The bathroom is nice, but I don't like it as much for some reason. Overall, very lovely, though.

Lovely @Oznell - my dream kitchen.

The bathroom has a bit too much marble for me, although the windows are amazing.  The days of me being able to gracefully and easily get into that tub are long gone but for those who can, I imagine it's a comfortable, luxurious soak. Smiley Very Happy
