This is a man with good taste, both indoors and outdoors.  I like all of it, with one exception.  I think the equestrain painting over the sofa a little too big, it kind of overpowers the sofa although it is a beautiful hanging.

I think he may have at the very least a deep interest in horses, if not an owner.  I saw the loving cup/trophies on the side table, perhaps his?  Or maybe something he picked up in his travels.

With equestrian and plaid, I'm in heaven, lol.  I do agree with @mildoo  that the horse painting is too big over the sofa though.

I like Rebecca's outfit and lipstick shade! I especially like the blue and plaid together in the family room.

Re: RALPH LAUREN INFLUENCED HOUSE

I wonder what RL would say about it.

It's a mixture of styles & influences.

Re: RALPH LAUREN INFLUENCED HOUSE

Ha, ha, @Lucky Charm ,  I pondered the screen in the library too.  I think it's there because that was a bedroom before, and he might have wanted to de-emphasize its former bedroom-with-a-closet status.  I love screens for purposes like that.  And he might only keep his Christmas decs. in there so no need to access frequently...

I like that, @SactoSue --  wanting roughly half of the decorating intensity, ha.  That's about my temperature too-- I'm a traditionalist who needs a periodic "rest" from visual stimulation.  Even in the baronial country house look.

Even so, I cheer Steve on, because he's so clearly in a full-on love affair with classic English country house decorating, with its insistence on a profusion of beautiful objects, art and furniture surrounding one daily.  Not only is it what he loves to live with, but he's put it together artfully and with soul.

By the way, I personally like the proportions of the focal point horse painting over the couch, and love the way he extended its reach with the flanking sconces.  As long as the painting doesn't extend beyond the edges of the couch, it's classic.

The English tend to use their great works of pastoral art almost as wallpaper, often going up and down the walls...by their standards, Steve is almost restrained... ( not really).

Were it me, I'd be interspersing the occasional breezy seascape in among all the equestrian glory...

I really love the navy room, but would like fewer decor items, and better displayed lighting.   It seems like a lovely cozy place for a drink and chat, but it a bit too rigid on the nautical theme to me ( note the nice Koi rug).

Same with the equestrian room.  He got that luxurious leather sofa look just right.  Very gentleman's club-like.

I did spot one sofa in another room with 6 pillows on it.  That drives me nuts, as it appears too over-decorated.  Even sofas need some room to breathe.

Goregeous home and decor.  The man has class and style.  Poor Rebecca was out of her league.  She knows nothing about period furnishings and decor. She just knows how to order from China and fill a home full of it after someone builds her a home.

Re: RALPH LAUREN INFLUENCED HOUSE

It's all tooooo much for me....way tooooo much!  I'm sure there are some beautiful pieces of furniture or decor throughout but I was overwhelmed to really take much in at first glance and the style is not one I'm particularly fond of anyway.

I'll have to take a second look later.
