Not sure if I'm in right category for the Dyson.
I purchased the Shark Rotator during the TSV. It's good for the price. One thing I missed about my old Hoover is it was self-propelled forward and back. The Shark propels forward but not back. Does the Dyson self-propel at all? For those of us in our senior years, it makes a difference.

I have a dyson canister vac and I do have to say it is quite heavy. I would not recommend it if you have to carry it up and down stairs etc. In my house - all on one floor - I rarelly have to carry it - I just pull it on it's wheels. It does do an amazing job of cleaning. But even the part that I do have to push - the long wand and the carpet/ hard floor head are pretty heavy.
I used to have a Oreck - it was great for ease of use but it can't compare at all for how well the dyson cleans. My housekeeper has the dyson upright with the attachments. She loves how much easier it makes her work. She can ""dust"" high places and my plantation shutters with it in seconds.I have 5 ceiling fans and she cleans them in a few min. with her dyson dusting head.

Thanks happy housewife. Hmmm I was looking at one the DC 40 I think and it is supposedly lightweight. A lady in her 70's said she has a new one and it was very easy for her. She had 5 back surgeries so I thought maybe that model would be good. What model do you have? I just wrapped up the Shark Rotator for return. My back is giving me fits.
