Re: Question for Home Decor Experts

When all the items are the same shape, you need different heights to get the right look.

This photo from VPH shows my question. I see Valerie puts the middle size to the left of the largest sphere which is what I usually do, but I think I heard a decorator say once, that it should be just the opposite. Not sure?

I would do it this same way, Mallemo.

Re: Question for Home Decor Experts

I'm not thinking there's a hard and fast rule. It depends on what else is part of the vignette and where it's placed. I've always found that rules aside, I just have to play with these kinds of things to find the configuration that most pleases me.

Re: Question for Home Decor Experts

I don't know if I qualify as an "expert", but I think the answer to this question depends on the situation -- the objects you're working with, where you're putting them, what else may be near them, and how the arrangement looks. Color, size, balance, and rhythm all figure into it. I just play with the placement of items till the arrangement looks "right" to me. I don't think there's a fixed rule.

Re: Question for Home Decor Experts

Hi mallemo,

Well, I am probably a little late and a little short but what I have done with my green ones for the time being is I have the big and middle in the back with the big on the left and then put the small in front of the other 2. I am sure not the best layout but at this point it is working for me.

My amber ones I have the big one sitting on the table and have the middle one on a candle pedestal and the smaller on a taller pedestal. And those of back and off to the side of the big one. With the middle one being on the left. I originally had them all sitting on the table and then moved them to the pedestals. Like both ways.

I am sure you have come up with something great by now and it looks fantastic. Enjoy your spheres.

JCP thanks for saying how you did yours, it sounds like it makes a interesting view for a persons eyes to look at.

Largest items always to the right since your eyes read from right to left. If doing arrangements both sides have displays going in toward center object. The focus piece
