Question For Any DC Area Residents

I have always wondered how anyone could live in a Flounder House. When we were in the area, some of the dwellings were extremely narrow and the front doors couldn't have measured over 20 inches. Looked like the width of the whole house was four feet wide at most. How do folks fit in those places much less live there?
