Pretty Rooms from Ballard Designs...

[ Edited ]

All these rooms are from an article on proper furniture spacing. A link is included since this is a Qurate company. Rooms were pretty clearly simulated for their catalog and website, but are still appealing to look at.

I have loved Ballard Designs for over 20 years.

Still get their catalogue.

I get beautiful inspiration from them.

All pretty, but #2 and #5 are my vibe.

Re: Pretty Rooms from Ballard Designs...

I actually like all the rooms -  it's rooms set up like those that stagers use when they come into set up homes for sale, not just homes on HGTV - even right here in my own neighborhood, the pictures we see on line aren't always showing how the owners live/lived in the home.

Not sure when I first learned about it - 1980's or early -90's - but the home of a friend appeared in a decorator's magazine.  I recognized the basic decor, but not all the extras in the room.  Turned out that the magazine's hired team brought those with them and carried them out once they were satisfied with the photos.  (Sorry, but I have no idea which magazine.)

Ballard Designs is such a fun catalog to look through and get ideas.  While not everything is to my taste, I absolutely love these Chinese Chippendale chairs pictured-- adore everything Chinese Chippendale-- and seeing them here in soft blue makes them so fresh!

Also very fond of spool beds- we have an antique one that is stained wood, but this one painted off-white is equally pretty.

Love Ballard Designs!  Have bought from them since 1980's.  Good quality furniture for a good price. The armless chairs are very comfortable and very well made. I have the Chippendale armchairs for over 30 years....they are painted black, now and have used Ballard fabric to recover the seats.  I have never been disappointed with any purchase and if it on sale.................well that's even better!  Their bed linen and bed skirts are wonderful as well.  I have my eye on Bunny Williams linen wrapped coffee table but I missed the sale and the free shipping!

All these rooms appeal to me.  I don't really like blue in design now, but I do like it in these rooms.  Funny how tastes change because in the first house we had built in my late 20's, my dining room had blue carpet, and blue drapes and our master bedroom had blue carpet.  Living room also had blue drapes, a blue velvet recliner and linen sofa with blue and green floral and green chairs.  Evidently I liked green back then and still do, but the green back then was a darker green carpet.

Now the green I prefer is toward the sage color and paired with rose colors in carpet and furniture.  Still like my floral and stripe furniure along with one color furnitrure..

I am going to check out the Ballard website.

Re: Pretty Rooms from Ballard Designs...

Thank you. I have to check it out. I love all the rooms. What bothers me is designers who say we shouldn't put furniture against the wall. My two issues with that are, (1) my rooms aren't oversized, and, (2) my outlets are on the walls, not on the floor so I must put lamps and furniture near the electricity.

Re: Pretty Rooms from Ballard Designs...

These are not my design style but I do see several pieces of furniture I like.  My favorite room, overall, is the first bedroom but I'd definitely change out the print on the lamps and window treatments.
