Has anyone installed prefinished, solid hardwood floors in a home? Do you have any brand recommendations? Or brands to stay away from?

Another question what do you use to clean them with??

Our son has oak hardwood floors and it's all new to him.

Re: Prefinished solid hardwood flooring

Thank you for all of the suggestions and information, so helpful! Bruce was one I had looked at, it's nice to hear positive feedback. I also looked at Shaw, Preverco and Casabella, to name a few. It gets very confusing. Bruce alone has a lot of oak flooring choices. Thanks for all of your help!

As to what to clean them with, the company I worked with gave me a Bona kit on completion of the job.  That's the only product I use on mine (other than water and a mop with a microfiber pad.

Re: Prefinished solid hardwood flooring

You are so right, it iis hard to find sales people to help with flooring information at the large home improvement  stores. I have also visited a few flooring stores, they are great with information and brand recommendations. I just wonder if the pricing is higher in the flooring stores. A lot pf pricing variation and so many brands, I have a lot of research to do!

Re: Prefinished solid hardwood flooring

Over the years, we've had flooring work done by Lowes, Home Depot, and a local flooring store.  We had problems with every project from Lowes and Home Depot. But the work from our local store was perfect.  I'd rather pay more and get the job done right the first time.
