I am hunting for good curtain panels, bedspreads, sheets, comforters, & washable non-slip runners & scattered rugs and I am seeing a lot of ugly stuff. I have searched many online and brick & mortar stores. Appreciate suggestions! I used to buy Linens N Things, JC Penney, BBB. Now what?

@birdQ13

I recently, wanted and needed, to replace some curtains I had originally bought through Vermont Country Store, so I ordered the same ones I had before.

The curtains arrived and the craftsmanship was fine, but the fabric was thinner than before.

BUT, I must tell you that the original curtains were about 20 years old, so perhaps the fabric had changed in all those years.

Maybe you will have to have them custom made.

Might be more expensive, but what can you do?

@birdQ13

Someone on this board suggested I check out bed and bathroom linens online at Cuddledown dot com ( spelling ? ).  Their products are expensive, well made, beautiful and will last.

Even when they have a seasonal "sale", they are still expensive.  It's a case of getting what you really want.....

Good Luck !

LLBean has nice comforters. I have a couple and no one would ever know how old they are. Their lower thread count sheets will wear out though.

I have their waterhog mats at my front and back doors. They're easily vacuumed and last a long time.

Vermont Country Store is a good place to shop.

Some of Lands End bedding is good.

I use 100% wrinkle-free cotton sheets with a decent thread count. I don't use mixed fabrics because they hold in too much heat even if they say they won't.

@birdQ13   I know exactly what you mean. I used to buy curtains from Country Curtains and they no longer exist. They were such good quality. Vermont Country Store took over their line of curtains, but quality in  a lot of fabrics has changed and are not as good as they once were.

 My red and white check, kitchen curtains are beginning to fade and they were bought from Country Curtains. That style is not made anymore. Everything is Buffalo check, which I don't like and no real red.  What we see is like a dark brick red. I may have to make replacement curtains or go with white. Smiley Sad

I don't want cheap polyester curtains. There is a small curtain shop near me, but styles are limited.

Bedding I buy from Macy's . Their Hotel Collection is good, but pricey. I only like cotton sheets with a high thread count.

I don't mind paying the price for quality sheets. My pillowcases feel like rose petals against my skin. Macy's has great sales, often and coupons , if you have a Macy's account.

Egyptian cotton sheets are very good, if you can find them.

Last year, I bought a lovely comforter and shams set from Macy's. I also buy all my towels from Macy's from the Martha Stewart Collection or Kassatex, all cotton. If Macy's no longer carries Kassatex, you can get towels from their website. I bought some from a location in Cape May, New Jersey.

I miss Bed, Bath and Beyond and Linens N Things. They had great quality merchandise. People are accepting lower quality items today and younger people don't even know that higher quality things once existed. They only know Walmart, Kohls and Target, cheap imports.  Smiley Sad

But, I have to say, about 20 years ago, I bought two nonslip little kitchen rugs from Kohls and they have lasted and still look good. I don't know if their current quality is the same.

Good Luck in your quest.

Re: Poor Quality Textiles

[ Edited ]

I don't know if you want curtains or draperies, but I think JCPenney has great draperies and good prices and if you can't find what you want there, go to halfpricedrapes(dot)com.

I buy linens from TJMaxx or Home Goods.  Nobody has any better prices on linens than theirs and if you get there on a Monday, you can get the pick of the crop.

As far as bedding, they do sell high name-brand bedding.

If you are looking for good washable rugs, go to Ruggable(dot) com.

If you want throw rugs, it's hard to beat Target and Home Goods.

You say everything you see is ugly, so I don't know what you consider ugly.  We all have different tastes, but the ones at Target, Home Goods and TJ are very recent and not ugly, IMO.

Have you checked on Etsy.

I like cotton sheets with a high-thread count and I love good quality.  I hope you will find what you want that you consider attractive.  Keep us posted.
