Several years ago on a TV infomercial, they sold this tub of pink cleaning paste (it sort of had the consistency of elementary school paste) that you could use to clean carpet and just about anything.
If you wanted to clean a carpet spot, you could take some on a rag and rub it around until the spot came up and then you would take a wet cloth (squeezed out) to rub again to pull up any further residue. I hardly had any smell at all. Or you could melt it down and mix it with water to made a solution which you could spray on laudry.
What the heck was it? It worked really well on carpet...esp cat puke stains
I think as of a few years ago it was still around...
