Patio Mat Question

Does anyone use a patio mat on an exposed deck? I'm wanting to put an area rug (6 x 9) on my exposed deck (8 x 19). Do I have to keep moving it so that the deck won't discolor all around it? I'm afraid the sun will bleach the area all around the rug. Anyone have any suggestions?
