@Hopein24, you've received a lot of great advice here, but I'm going to throw this out there for the heck of it...

 

Sometimes when a space is dimly lit, it can also work to just embrace it and go for drama.

 

I once had a dining room like that, and after trying all kinds of light colors that never looked right to me, I painted it a deep indigo, & accented w/ gold and a crystal chandelier.

 

I hope you love whatever it is that you decide to do!
