Packaging

I'm having a new experience. I get dozens of packages a year but never one like this. I ordered a large abstract wood-look sculpture from HauteLook which came a couple days ago. I just tried to open it...TRIED being the operative word. I couldn't open the flaps on the top at all so went in thru the bottom. The item is encased in a solid block of what was, when packed, liquid styrofoam. Now it's like it is locked in a solid block of ice but it won't melt. Darmest thing I ever saw and I have no idea how to get to it. Wonder what brilliant teenage warehouse worker thought this up? I'm in no mood to fight for it so I may just ship it back...as is. Any ideas?
