Not a fan of the candy hearts.  The art styles seem to be all over the place.  I would prefer a more grandeur fireplace setting for both fireplaces.

I am assuming this is why these home photos are posted.  For our pleasure and critiques?  I am not great decorator.  I just know if I like something or I don't.  It is fun to look at these homes, so thank you for posting them.

@SactoSue ,  and @RNbynite ,

Good discussion about the whole designer book-arranging thing.

If I'm remembering right, she said the books were hers, that she had been storing in the basement-- overflow from her collection, I suppose.

It sounded like, on a whim, she decided to arrange them that way, coordinating some of the colors, and of course, interspersing them with some of her treasures.

I do like that in a bookcase-- putting vases or pictures in with your collection.

As for the 'coordinated color' aspect, in most cases I agree with you, @SactoSue --  too contrived.  But, I can see how a design person would be drawn to that.  She indicated it's a work in progress, and that she changes it around a lot, which is typical.

I could see doing it for fun, maybe for one season, and switching things up again.  My problem is I'm a book person, and a visual person.  While books in and of themselves are my first priority-- the visual side of me likes the idea of creating sort of Cubist blocks of color, ha.

That said, I've not ever arranged my books that way-- I have too many, and it involves too many decisions, and too much time!

@Oznell …..Thank you for that explanation. I tend to be guilty of  “color coordination” as too many (colors) tend to distract me and make a room look cluttered.

It is too formal in some rooms. It’s also way too busy in other rooms. The eye can’t rest. This is a no for me.

Like her blue velvet couch and would like the velvet chairs better if they were peach instead of pink. Don't care for pink walls.  Like the blue stone on her patio.

Love her kitty.  I bet your Baxter (nice name) is a sweetheart, @Oznell .

I miss ECBG, too.

Whenever I see Chippendale chairs, I think poignantly of our sweet, sweet @ECBG.   She is so very missed on the Home forum, among others!

@Oznell Thanks for posting.  The bones of this house are lovely.  Like most responses, some things I like, others not.  That cluttered table in the foyer, the dining room chandelier, the hearts, the stacked books, the dark curtains, the art over the cooktop in the kitchen, the fabric shades in the kitchen are all a big no for me.  I would do a complete re furnishing of the family room.

I love the symmetry of the outdoor view of the house. The spacious rooms, the foyer which is airy and welcoming, the staircase, the lighted cabinetry in the kitchen, the upholstered chairs at both tables, and the outdoor patio.

I always enjoy your posts @Oznell.  I wonder how others would critique our own homes lol!

It's a nice looking home, but I don't love the exterior or some of her style choices.

My favorite things are the interior architectural details and moldings, windows, foyer, staircase, dining table and wood chairs, built-in shelving, kitchen, and outdoor area.

My least favorite things are the animal print chairs, artwork, and hearts and plates on the walls. I don't like the colorful family room at all. I will take the piano though.

@wilma

I think you and I could see eye-to-eye on this home.  The outside dining area (outdoor kitchen, if you will), is identical to my son's.  This must have been one of those plans they sold on line.  Like you, there are things I like, but I love the architectural details, the craftsmansship and the kitchen.  I cannot abide those animal print chairs.  Some I like but not these.  The fabric is too much and I think for animal print, she could have done it more subtly in a throw or a rug, maybe just a small side chair.
