I couldn't quite pinpoint it, but something about the relationship of brick, to glass and sunlight, to wood, in this kitchen, struck me as so right!   LOVE those counter stools, which look vintage but aren't.

Lucky homeowners, one of whom is a cookbook author. Nice working conditions!   The hearth-looking area is a pizza oven.

They have just a little open shelving, but the other cabinets are closed or glass-fronted. The painted part of the cabinets is Farrow and Ball's "Shaded White",  but the other warm elements like the wood and brick keep it from being too stark.

Most of the appliances are in the pantry, they said.

Those pendant lights are antique, which surprised me.  Their coppery tone picks up the copper accents of the cookware.

Love the way the dark wood of those enviable counter stools looks, against the lighter wood of the island....

Re: PACIFIC NORTHWEST KITCHEN

Those 'antique' stools are reminiscent of the ones we had at my parent's home! I'm now officially old! LOL!! I love the kitchen but I cannot deal with open shelves nor glass cupboard doors. They would drive me to distraction cleaning up the grease splatters and dust from my cooking. I am NOT a neat cook, I am constantly cleaning my pendant light shades and the microwave door.

@Oznell I really like this and I am super picky. AND I even like the light fixtures! Those are my big bugaboo when it comes to decorating and the first thing I notice and either like or hate. Love the brick especially.

Like the room, the windows, the natural light, brick and so on. Not a fan of the massive island and can take or leave the stools.

@Oznell   Very nice.  I love the sunlight, the brick, and the island is my favorite. (I have very little counter space now).    I also like closed cabinets without glass, but one or two shelves would be ok, but the rest I LOVE! That sunlight and doors make it!  And if that is a butler's pantry on the left, even better.

Re: PACIFIC NORTHWEST KITCHEN

Our last house had a large brick fireplace and archway where the cooktop was.  I don't recommend it.  The space could be better used in a kitchen.

I do like the cabinet color and the countertops, not a fan of open storage for a kitchen.

It is beautiful, and maybe I'm just not seeing it, but where the heck is the refrigerator??  I'd have a hard time cooking in there since it doesn't have the sink/stove/fridge flow.

Re: PACIFIC NORTHWEST KITCHEN

I find this kitchen to be appealing.  However, I am not a fan of islands or high chairs but prefer a kitchen dining table and chairs.  That is the only thing I would change!!!
