Have you ever had an overwhelming laundry or home fragrance?

I tried a different detergent than usual this week and used the same brand of fabric softener sheet in the dryer. Omg. The detergent smell in the washer was strong enough to go into the hallway & a bit in adjacent rooms, but it seemed nice at the time. But when I took the loads out of the dryer, the fragrance was overwhelming.

I've used that brand of dryer sheets before & could barely smell the fragrance on the laundry, but adding that fragranced detergent made it waaay too much.

Silly me, I did 3 loads. My clothes, my sheets, my bath towels, etc. are obnoxious with the fragrance, and I need to re-launder them in my regular detergent.

In the spring, I used a Febreze small spaces air freshener in one of the bathrooms. The smell was so strong, it permeated into most of the downstairs rooms. I threw it out.

I know I've been sensitive to smells since I was a little girl, but I haven't run into these strong fragrances until recently. More isn't always better where fragrance is concerned.

I only use Arm & Hammer fragrance free and unscented Bounty sheets.

BUT, my DIL uses Tide and those dryer crystals 🤮🤢

My son complains how overwhelming the fragrance is and I can barely breathe if I'm at their house (and the plug-ins ugh) my DIL believes this masks the dog odors🤦‍♀️.

My son does his own wash with fragrance free -- I'll be in a store and I can smell some peoples clothes a mile away who use Tide or some other detergent that has fragrance.

I don't understand how she doesnt smell it it's so overwhelming (at least to me as I'm highly allergic to scents).

I guess I don't understand. Why not just stay away from using scented laundry products if you have issues with them?

I had been using free and clear for awhile but noticed even after laundering you could still smell my deoderant in the garment.  Using scented is just beyond disgusting as I have chemical sensitivity.  How I'm now getting around this is I use 1/4 cup scented and the rest scent free.  The scent is not overwhelming and my garments are much cleaner.

I ONLY use unscented, cruelty free laundry detergent. I NEVER use dryer sheets. I use wool b**ls in the dryer. I also don't use any air fresheners or burn scented candles. I prefer fresh air in my home.

No dryer sheets for me anymore. Wool dryer balls work great!

No fabric softener, No scented candles, fragrance free everything lol.

Downy   Unstoppables fabric softners

( although they have funny commercials )

my Mother used these in her laundry and my eyes would water and I'd sneeze. She would have a runny nose and I told her she was having an allergic  reaction to the scent of the product.

Most of the laundry fragrances are  too strong in my opinion. I use  Free & clear no fragrance

I got some dryer sheets, the kind that's supposed to repel fur, that were so strong I had to keep them in the garage.  I've noticed, with time, the odor has weakened and I no longer smell it.
