About 3 a.m. today, a 61 yr. old convenience store clerk was found shot to death at a store on the west edge of my town. (We live south of town.) We learned of this when the newspaper came about noon. Since the store is on the interstate, we thought whoever did this was probably long gone from our area. Right after lunch, my DH went to town to run some errands. While he was gone, he got a call from his BIL ( who lives down the road from us) telling him that we needed to stay inside and lock the doors. The Highway Patrol and Sheriff's office had our road closed as they searched the area for one the suspects. DH called me (he was still in town) to tell me. I locked all the doors and got out the shotgun, just in case! About an hour later, the BIL ( whose nephew is a deputy sheriff) called my DH to tell him that the suspect had been caught and the road was open so he could come home. This happened about a mile from our home, in the wooded area behind us.
The local 6 p.m. news gave few details, but the rumor is that there were 3 men and 1 woman involved. The authorities will release more details tomorrow. So sad for the woman's family who was killed. We live in a small Midwest town, so this is a pretty unusual thing to happen here. Again, so sad.
