Wow! granite counters...*dreaming here*
The rooster looks fabulous..quite the statement piece at 19" in height.
I thought I'd pair it with the VPH black wire apothacary jar I got last year...although I haven't figured quite yet what I'll be putting in it
@Susan Louise, Good for you for buying the b&w rooster. I am still resisting but not sure for how long. I liked the way Valerie had the rooster in between the two wire apothecaries filled with pears. That could even be a nice year-round look in my opinion. Other fruit, or maybe small pumpkins, gourds and pinecones, perhaps with a few faux sunflowers tucked among them, would look nice also.
@SHOPR I'm crossing fingers it will look good on top of our pantry. I am worried it just might look out of place being so big and or I won't be able to fit one of our VPH black wire apothecary jars next to the rooster due to lack of room. I want to use the tall slender one.
Yes, I saw the video with VPH/her team pairing the jars with the rooster. I am pretty sure I won't be putting fruit on the inside of them. I was thinking either eggs, ivy or something else. I might take a trip to HL to see what else might work...'if' the rooster looks good on top of the pantry that is...
Our kitchen is pretty small, so sometimes really large decor pieces just look out of place.
I'll find out soon enough. Hopefully I won't have to return it. The rooster just shipped to a NC UPS facility, so might get it by Friday or sooner.
Valreie's rooster is standing by himself, and doesn't need anything else. If eggs are used, a hen should be added.
@mousiegirl VPH's rooster is standing by itself at your home?
Well, although I know a hen is actually the egg 'layer' (especially since I am an avid birding enthusiast...LOL), I think eggs will work well with either hen or rooster. In my head, there 'could be' a hen nearby, so it wouldn't matter to me.
Most of my decorating makes 'logical' sense, other times I don't care and decorate by how I think it looks and how it makes me happy. Last Fall I kept out our VPH mama duck with her 3 little ducklings beyond Spring/Summer (logically the breeding period) and kept them out til when I decorated for Christmas.
Some folks keep their Christmas trees up 365 days a year too.
Below are a couple of pics of how I have decorated with eggs...one 'logical' and one...not so much. As we all know, bunnies don't lay eggs, however I loved the egg topiaries with the bunnies. But both ways worked for me equally well...
Thanks for the suggestions though

@Susan Louise I love that first picture. It just looks so inviting to sit and have a cup of tea or coffee. I've seen it before but loved seeing it again.

@Susan Louise, I am looking forward to reading your opinion of your b&w rooster when you get it. I do like how Valerie had the rooster between the wire apothecaries on the long table, but I was thinking along the lines of @mousiegirl, as large as it is, it might look best by itself, if placed on top of my refrigerator. That is one reason I hesitate to buy it, because I have other things up there that would have to go. Wouldn't you know, though, that I'd find another possible spot for the rooster? I did, and measured, so I'm now even more tempted. Does it ever end? Ha Ha

@SHOPR I'm seriously considering removing the eggs from the topiaries so I can put them in the apothecary jar. It will of coarse depend on if I keep the rooster. If I find it is too big for the top of the pantry, I will return it since I would have nowhere else to put it.
I do want the eggs with the rooster. You and mousiegirl can decorate with your rooster the way you both like. I will post a review when I get the rooster

@SHOPR I am pleased to say the rooster looks nice on top of our pantry (size-wise) and thankfully I will have plenty of room to add the wire apothecary jar with some eggs beside it. However, I am returning the one we have because the paint job is very poor. I just ordered another one hoping it's much better. Thankfully I'm in no rush to get it since I won't be decorating with it til January when I put our Spring/Summer decor back out

@SHOPR Uh, no, SHOPR, it never ends. LOL

I believe you, @lucymo. Now I keep thinking about the other spot, where it would look great and require moving only one thing, which just happens to be something I no longer want to display anyway. Still, I am staying strong and resisting the b&w rooster for now. I say staying strong, as I await the delivery of another huge lantern by UPS today. Strong? Not. LOL
@Susan Louise, Thanks for the update.

@SHOPR Well, since you could use the B/W rooster with the sunflowers on it for your fall decor better decide right away. I thought about that rooster but the b/w really doesn't fit in my kitchen or D/R so I decided to get H201237 as I've had the pumpkin set that goes well with the rooster for a few years, H197283. Do you remember the Home Interiors 'Barnyard Rooster' from 2000. He is about the size of this b/w one and very colorful. I always have him displayed. Right now I'm working on finding pumpkins and gourds. I'll be starting to do fall in a week or so. Nope, it never ends. lol

@LTT1 wrote:This is somewhat off-topic, but the VPH ceramic rooster is nice and it is available. The LR beaded wreath/spray is available, and I have been very pleased. It, too, was sold out until a few days after it was presented, then it was back in stock. Fearing that it would be a sell-out, I jumped, ordered lots, then returned quickly the boxes I couldn't use. I did not know that these would be so large and full, FYI
Which decor did you keep and which did you return?
I returned the rooster and I'm getting a replacement since it had a very poor paint job. As for the wreath, do you mean LR's H203803?
I loved that LR set wreath/spray/garland...they are lovely pieces! I don't think there was anything LR had in her collection I didn't like...LOL
Too bad LR can't come back to just do decor shows for us. I still miss the Linda Dano shows too...oh well.
