How could anyone possibly relax in that room?  It's the equivalent of putting caffeine in your eyes.

@Kachina624 ................I totally agree with you about that picture above the fireplace!  Im not sure what I would replace it with, maybe some type of plain wrought iron hanging or better yet a macrame?

I do very much like the colors and the rest of the room.

While the color pallette and style is not my style or tastes, I LOVE when someone uses color they love and run with it! I don't see anything overwhelming or too cluttered at all.

IF the tile is vintage and original to the house, I'd keep it and neutralize everything else. Might put one or two SOLID throw pillows, in one of the tile colors, on the sofa. I love color, but that fireplace is enough just by itself!

WOW!!! I have to say that I really like all that color--reminds me of all the colors I have of my Fiestaware dishes in my cabinet!!!  Makes me happy-- but maybe I would pare things down just a touch; dang--the tiles on the fire place are spectacular!!!

I like a number of the elements in the room but didn't realize how glaring the tile is until I enlarged the picture. It needs to go or at least to be scaled down. Even then, this is not my aesthetic, but it could be a pleasing room with a little less tile. I'd probably skip that particular art print as well, along with the celling fixture.

I don't have an issue with the color but all the patterns of all that tile makes me anxious.  If that kind of tile was just used as a border and then filled in with white subway or some other neutral colored tile, it would be a lot better.  As for the furnishings, I'd probably tweak some things here and there.

I guess the tile fireplace would work in Spain or Mexico but everything else with bold color or pattern would have to go...which is everything else in the room but the sofa.

The art above the fireplace looks totally out of place.

This is not for me but I do think it would look a lot better if all else in the room was neutral.

Removing the rug, the art, and switching the pillows to a solid color is what I would like to see.

I am also wondering if there is a window behind the art.

What do you think of this colorful room?

The colorful patterned tile looks very interesting, but it's not something I would choose. I'm not a fan of slipcovers, but it looks like they tried to tie in the colorful patterned tiles by placing similar color pillows on sofas with light slipcovers. I don't care for the black trim and blue wall color on the built-ins. Love the dark wood floor.

If I had that tile, I would definitely keep most everything else neutral. I would keep the built-ins in their traditional dark wood color or paint them a light neutral color. I would want a couple of color coordinating pillows on light neutral sofas without slipcovers and a solid neutral rug. The tables, artwork, & chandelier aren't my style so I'd replace those.

@wilma  Yikes! Funny, I love color and lots of it. I love eclectic and left of center decorating but this room REALLY makes me anxious. Just too much and it stems from the tiles on the fireplace.

The tiles could stay but the rest of the room has to be toned down A LOTWoman LOL

The art work over the fireplace is hideous. IMO, there is no rhyme or reason for it.

Everything is just jarring to me. I couldn't sit in that room or even visit someone's home with that explosion of input. I would ask to sit in their kitchen. LOL

Great post though. Thanks for finding a colorful situation as opposed to the other days post with neutrals.Woman Happy
