Re: No UPS prepaid Amazon return label but he demanded the package......BEWARE!

UPS does lie, I have caught several drivers, and so does USPS.

Re: No UPS prepaid Amazon return label but he demanded the package......BEWARE!

Interesting I get my label directly from Amazon which I copy and print. Then I take the 16 miles round trip to a UPS store and hand it over. They scan it and give me a receipt. The last time I handed something over was last week. I knew UPS was coming so I printed my label, and put the package at my front door with a note for him to take.

I live rural, so I know the UPS man (men) who show up to deliver. I guess you would say I keep them busy. I don't shop in stores. I have no patience for that. I prefer online and yes I get a better fit sight unseen. Strange as that one sounds.

Re: No UPS prepaid Amazon return label but he demanded the package......BEWARE!

I've had to return a few items to Amazon that were either defective or damaged during shipping. As was the case with the op, Amazon did indicate that UPS would bring the label at pick up. This is only done whenever the item is defective or damaged. Otherwise, the buyer needs to print the label in order to return an item.

My UPS delivery man has always brought the label, and gave me a receipt when he picked up the item. I don't blame you for refusing to give him the item without the label in hand. Hopefully, this will be resolved with the next pick up.

I wouldn't want to return any item that way, much less an expensive electronic item. I have always had Amazon send prepaid label to me thru email. I print it & affix it - I have control & have documentation. I do not want to give over the responsbility to a UPS guy (who I don't know) and how can I be sure he puts the correct label on etc? Then it's your word against his. In my area, we have different delivery people all the time. I've had my packages left at the wrong townhouse down the block, when the package is cleared marked correctly. Unfortunately, they all aren't 'focused' on the job.

I've never had an issue with Amazon or my UPS.

Me, too, except for the 16 miles part. I just print it from my account, but I guess some people feel the need to call?

I returned a Keurig item and QVC told me to just put my return label on just like I would when I returned it and put it on the porch. I did. I guess it got there because I got my credit. I didn't even see the UPS guy.

I did the same thing with a Williams-Sonoma return. I purchased a very expensive hammered copper/tin lined stock pot with a lid and when it arrived the pot had obviously been dropped as it was warped and the lid would not fit. I called WS immediately and they said to put it out on the front porch with a return label, which was in with the packing slip, and UPS would pick it up the next day between the hours of 4p and 7p (or something to that effect). I was leery but did what they said. The pot was gone when I got home and the return was successful.

usually customer prints return label through their account

that is always the best way but the way she did it is also a choice

...not to sound like a broken record..lol But the easiest way, preferred way to handle the return would have been to just print off a return label via Amazon. That's one of the benefits of Amazon that I like. You were returning something, so I sincerely doubt that the guy was trying to steal a broken or malfunctioning item. It sounds like he was new and that was his first encounter with that particular process.

Re: No UPS prepaid Amazon return label but he demanded the package......BEWARE!

(Defective or broken items are always picked up by UPS as stated in the Amazon.com email to me above). They do not allow printing from your Amazon account once you check off reason for return as defective.

Today's Update:

The UPS Depot Manager called me this afternoon and confirmed that the UPS fill in driver who came yesterday violated UPS policies, and protocols. In addition he submitted false information which was posted on UPS.com relative to what transpired.

He further stated all UPS drivers who pick up and make deliveries to residences and businesses all receive extensive training and testing to ensure they all understand and know how to legally perform every function of their UPS job, without violating any guidelines, policies, or protocols.

The Depot Manager was aware that this UPS fill in driver also submitted a false UPS work activity report, which was also displayed on the UPS.com web site.

His UPS report stated that he arrived on the first attempt and the customer did not have the package ready to be picked up, which the UPS Depot Manager also said he knew was false since the UPS driver had no reason to go to my home unless he had the Amazon UPS ground prepaid return label in his possession, which he did not.

The Manager said this situation should have never occurred and I should rest assured it will be handled in a manner to ensure in future this type of unacceptable behavior of a UPS employee is not tolerated, nor will falsifying his UPS daily activity report which also displayed on UPS.com be condoned.

In closing I did say "honesty is always the best policy" to which the UPS Depot Manager said yes UPS totally agrees, so on behalf of UPS please accept our sincerest apologies.

He also stated he would assign another UPS driver to come this Monday with the correct label and hand scanner, to handle the UPS ground defective package prepaid return.

Amazon.com also left me a message today that they filed a complaint with UPS late yesterday after I apprised them of what occurred. They were thankful I did not release the item to that UPS driver without any legally acceptable documentation. Amazon stated that they also credited me right away for the defective return, and apologized for the inconvenience. I expect them to call again on Monday to ascertain if UPS did pick up the defective Amazon return.

I must say the credit card refund initiated right away was certainly reflective of the fairness of Amazon, and their willingness to go the extra mile for their valued customers. They did realize time is money, and that honesty really is the best policy.
