We were at Walmart yesterday to get a new coffee maker as ours died. While there I was looking at throw rugs for in front of the back and front doors. They had a ton of them - various colors, sizes and designs.Very reasonably priced.I got 2 , 3' x 5' , one is tan, turquoise and creme colors and the other is rust, tan, burgandy and creme color. They also had runners so i may get a runner for in front of my sliding glass door, so we can wipe our feet before stepping onto the very light color carpet. If you would like to refresh some throw rugs check out walmart. They were all so pretty it was hard to choose.

Re: Nice throw rugs at Walmart.

Thanks for the heads up. I used to buy all my throw/kitchen rugs at Penney's but that ship sailed a long time ago. Then I moved to Kohl's, and now the last ones I got there were breaking down before the first washing.

I remember kitchen and bathroom rugs with the non skid backing lasting for years, but not so much now. I'll be sure to check them out the next time I'm in the store.

Re: Nice throw rugs at Walmart.

Thanks, your post could not come at a better time. My dog had stomach trouble last week. I had to wash one of the rugs he "hit". It came out of the washer in worse shape than it went in. I need to replace it and it can't hurt to get a spare.

I too used to have quite a bit of success at Penney's in past years. But recently I haven't found anything I wanted. I will check out Walmart.

Just got an email from Target this a.m. They have their area rugs on sale now, with free shipping. I ordered one online.

I bought bathroom rugs at Target when we first bought our house and within 2 or 3 washes they had all faded to grey.

Re: Nice throw rugs at Walmart.

I used to always buy household items at Penneys but now I would have to go all the way up to Sarasota - about 45 min drive to Penneys. We have a Walmart right here in town.

I think pretty things like a throw rug or pretty towels can add so much color and design to a space.

We also got some really cute placemats for the kitchen table for 94 cents each. I got ones that were a cafe design - browns , beiges and turquoise - matches the new throw rug. For only 94 cents who cares if they don't last forever?

I'm sure that was years ago that the fading occurred, now with the NEW Chinese quality standards in existence, that probably won't happen. {#emotions_dlg.lol} If I'm not mistaken, I believe both retailers get their products from China.

Seriously, it's a horse a piece, both retailers get their products from China and you are not paying a fortune so it's basically a wear and toss kind of thing.

If the rug's worth saving & the backing's deteriorated, you can buy that latex backing material that applies with a brush. I can't remember a brand name right now, but you can probably Google it or just ask at your local hardware store.
