Re: Nice smeling home...

[ Edited ]

My husband and daughters have allergies and COPD, so we can't have open windows all the time, which would be my preference.

Teacher daughter used an air purifier in her classroom the last 2 years, and we are using it in the house during summer break.   I use tarts and candle warmers for scent more than burning a candle.

I sound like the "wet blanket" here but regular candles release harmful chemicals into the air.  If I chose to burn a candle, it would be beeswax.

The plug-in scents release toxins too. Everyday, even in the winter, I open the windows to get some fresh air in.

All these scented candles, sprays, and perfumes are hormone disruptors.

I enjoy burning a candle or using the plug in candle melts.  I don't use them daily.  I have to be careful as some are to strong and give me a wicked headache.

@Mom2Dogs  I suffer from migraines.  It was trial & error for me to figure out which fragrance gave me a migraine.  It was down to 5 fragrance I can use migraine free.....

Jasmine-Yankee Candle

Macintosh - Yankee Candle

Mulberry-Incense

Midnight - Yankee Candle

Vanilla Bean - Incense

**I can no longer step inside a Catholic Church.  The smell of frankincense is a migraine attack party for me.  So bad, I nearly pass out.**

@Mz iMac ...thanks!  I will take a look at those particular fragrances.  Migranes are the worst, I have had just a couple 9OR really bad headaches, not sure)  in my lifetime, thank goodness.

@bonnie f

I love the smell of a freshly cleaned home.

I'm allergic to most candle scents and perfumes, especially vanilla or florals so in my house Mr. Clean, vinegar and I are best friends.

I'm "ocd" I wipe my bathrooms and kitchen thoroughly everyday😉 I love the clean smell everyday.

I do!  Use wax melts because burning candles make me nervous.  I just stocked up on tons of wax melts to get through the summer.

I have been a fan of Lampe Berger lampes and oil for a very long time........don't worry about soot or leaving a lighted candle.  They are amazing!!!

I usually have a candle burning, or  I do set out a bar of Yardley Lavendar or Irish Spring soap 🧼 when it seems stuffy. Sorry we can't open our windows very often...the screens turn yellow from pollen so we keep them closed. I don't use any fabric softeners or clothing sprays due to DH's skin issues from radiation. It's just All Free and Clear per his dr.

@chrystaltree What are some of the brands that you use>? I am always looking for new scents/brands to try!

I like a fresh smelling house but am too paranoid about fire to burn scented candles.  The plug-ins I tried were too strong and the reed diffusers too weak.  Some scents give me a headache.

I found a really nice brand of potpourri on Amazon called Andaluca.  Decent sized bag of nice potpourri and lovely light soft scents.  I got the "Lemon Zest and Thyme" and "Ocean Plumes" scents.  Both are very nice and each bag of potpourri comes with a small bottle of refresher scented oil plus you can buy just the scented oil separately.

Anyway, just thought I would mention this brand.  This company also sells scented candles, reed diffusers, wreaths, dried florals, and wood bowls.  They are in California.

An estimated 700,000 people around the world, 400,000 of them children, have died so far due to the discontinuation of the USAID program.
