I love it too but I am also allergic to most scents and get bad headaches. I can get a bad headache in anywhere where there are strong scents, or someone in a store aisle with fragrance on and candle area in stores and on and on. I used to love scented candles burning in our home! Cant use dryer sheets or scented room spray either.

My preference is open windows.  In the winter, if it's going to be 60 degrees or more, I will turn off the heat and open a window or two to let my home air out.  I burn candles and have diffusers going otherwise.  In the summer, I can't live without my A/C, but if it's a cooler day w/out much humidity, I turn off the A/C and open windows.

Re: Nice smeling home...

[ Edited ]

I burn candles as well as incense all year round.  Windows up and/or closed.

I live in a high rise-20th floor.

I burn Yankee Candles (Macintosh or Jasmine) in the daytime.

I burn ( 3+ hour burn time) incense (mulberry or vanilla bean) in the evenings,

I over heard someone in the lobby say, they like walking pass my apartment cause it smells so good.

Every home has a distinct "smell". Whether fragrant or otherwise. I could walk into a home (that I've been in before) blindfolded and being driven there undercover & would instantly be able to tell where I was upon entry. Most aren't aware of this as they are used to their home, and don't think otherwise.

I too am very sensitive to fragrance.  DH.........forget about it!  He cannot stand any fragrance or perfume at all.  I am a fan of candles and I do love them but I have to be very careful with which scent I burn and I only do it around the holidays. As far as Febreeze, to me that's just spraying chemicals in the air and on the furniture.  All your doing is masking, open a window for peets sake.

I enjoy burning a candle or using the plug in candle melts.  I don't use them daily.  I have to be careful as some are to strong and give me a wicked headache.

I worry about the chemicals in those products, and many scents trigger migraines or asthma for me so I opt for more natural means to make the house fresh.  I keep pretty jars of organic lavender flowers next to my bed and uncap before bed, place them in the sill of an open window.  Roses work too.  I also like simmering spices and fruit on the stove.  In the Winter time I keep pinecones in a basket by the door and add a drop of pure cinnamon oil.  Lemon oil is something I use to clean with and that always has a fresh scent.
