Re: Nice Quality Cotton Sheet Recommendation

[ Edited ]

@Drythe , I am very fussy about my bedding as well.  I recently changed from a king size bed to a queen adjustable which I just love.  I was talking to a friend lamenting the loss of my king sheets which are top quality cotton.  My friend told me I could modify the king sheets to fit queen and told me how to do it.  I picked a few of my favourite sets amd did that and they fit like a dream.  I couldn't be more shocked that it worked so well.  I gave quite a few away but kept the best.  S

PS, just put your recommendation on my wish list on A site.

Need recommendations for nice cotton sheet set.  I don't like the ultra thin blends that look good in package but the minute you wash them show every part of the mattress pad.  I liked some from Macy's but now they are over $200 for King set.  What does the Q have that is nice but not pricey?

I used to purchase those great Northern Nights sheetsets from the Q - wrinkle defense - around $50 to $65. I've been looking to purchase more - in full - for my guest bedrooms. the Q has NOTHING (NADA) to buy. I guess China isn't shipping them. The other brands have BAD reviews.

I like Macy's Hotel Collection 680 thread count sheets -- but they are pricey.  Recently, CostCo offered 680 thread count sheet sets, Pima cotton, at a very good price.  I bought a set to try out and they are absolutely comparable to the Macy's Hotel Collection sheets.

I just found this sheetset on Costco's site - they offer every size except FULL. I would have purchased 5 sets.

Re: Nice Quality Cotton Sheet Recommendation

@Lilysmom1 ... I have wanted to downsize from a king to queen bed for a while now. I haven't yet because of loosing all my sheets, and other bedding.

Its never crossed my mind about modifying the sheets.. what is the secret to doing that ?  thanks !!

Re: Nice Quality Cotton Sheet Recommendation

Some of my favorite sheet sets are from Macy's.. they were $120. several years ago.

I did just purchase a set from here.. I caught them on yesterday and saw that the reviews were all good, which is rare..             SHR  #224668 king @49.98  only 300tc but that's okay if well made.

I don't care for sheets that the thread count is over 600. Past that they get uncomfy to me.

Re: Nice Quality Cotton Sheet Recommendation

Just bought a queen size 100% cotton sheet set from Costco the other day and they are the best sheets! 400 thread count and I LOVE them. Only $50!

Re: Nice Quality Cotton Sheet Recommendation

@deja vu , take measure of your queen mattress and then measure your king fitted sheet.  Sew a seam up the middle of the fitted sheet.  Check the fit on the mattress, trim away excess (I use pinking shears to make this cut). I found that most of my king fitted sheets were 75" and my queen mattress was 60" so I measured that out on a folded fitted sheet (7.5"... half of 15"), and then did the seam.  I used a fabric pencil to mark the cut line.  My fitted sheets now fit better than they ever did.  Make sure you measure each fitted sheet as some sizes are different.

The adjustment to the flat sheet is easy.  Just measure up a queen flat and cut to fit that size.  Make a seam on the cut side and done.

I donated some king sheets I didn't love, kept some for quilting projects and modified the sheets I love.  For me, finding really good quality sheets is hit and miss and this way I was able to keep my best sets.  S

Re: Nice Quality Cotton Sheet Recommendation

I've been looking for 100% cotton sheets, wrinkle defense, full size, for several weeks. I only have QVC's Northern Nights - when they were affordable and very comfy. Now, their NN selection is the WORST - either $80 and up --- or they get bad reviews. Looks like their Home Sheet Collection only gets bad reviews - why are they still selling them????
