Re: Next Color Discussion - Red

I am not a big fan of red on the inside of a home. Kitchen accents are ok and I really like a red front door (inside not red).

My friend had a Mountain vacation cabin with a red metal roof, front door, and shutters...it is so cute.

@wilma Here you are!  I had to take off the couch cover for Shadow.  It seems he LOVES to chew pillow zippers.  He always takes his naps on this couch, so the cover stays on when it's just us.

The handmade lamps are Pottery Barn.  The candle holder on the left is said to come from the late 1700's.  The couch is Cozy Craft.

Re: Next Color Discussion - Red

I have a red chair and ottoman in my family room.  It is velour and in our previous house we had curtains made from the same fabric.  Now those curtains are throw pillows in our current house.  I call the chair our thinking chair b/c it looks like the thinking chair from Blue's Clues (my oldest DD's favorite show when she was little).

Re: Next Color Discussion - Red

I like your examples of red in interiors, @wilma .  Red can bring interest, and drama!

I don't really decorate with it, although I can admire it in the interiors of others.  I just find I don't want to live with it on a daily basis-- am one of those people drawn to soft blues, greens, pinks and lilacs.

I like the occasional, deep burnished red in a painting, or especially, in a beautiful Oriental rug...

@wilma  I really like them all! That red sofa in the second picture looks like ours in our Family Room. (Except, ours is getting kind of worn and lumpy Smiley Sad)

@PA Mom-mom Highly recommend Cosy Craft.  It's a high quality brand, the kind that you can recover, not the inexpensive "constantly throw it out" as in some brand name shops today.  It's extremely comfortable, kiln dried woods.  As you know, I taught Interior Design and I know brands.  This is on the level of what you may have known as Broyhill.

I love RED, love it in my home, love to wear it.  As most colors that come and go and come back again, red is like this. Some years ago all I kept seeing in furniture ads was red leather, all goegeous. Had to have a red leather sofa and loveseat in the living room. We found a great set, had it for some years. Decorating with red is so much fun, easy to do as well. I love color to add in. Sadly, the set sort of wore out and we replaced it with a more neutral set.

I keep looking for another great red set to move back into our living space.

This, except never had a red sofa.

Love red handbags!

Re: Next Color Discussion - Red

I just can't do red!  It would look crazy in my homes.  Can't explain it.....

I don't even have red in my wardrobe.  Always wore hot pink on St. Valentine's day....lol

Then I remember, I usually drive a red Silverado!

@SandySparkles Thank you.  The  coffee table is a French table almost 200 years old I had cut down.

Re: Next Color Discussion - Red

I love red and do use it, though mostly for accents and seasonally in the colder months, as well as sometimes around the holiday season. I find all the rooms and areas pictured to be appealing though the dining room might be a bit much for me.
