Just got new windows these past two days. Love the insulation they will add to our home and how quiet it already seems, too. From the outside, the windows are perfect. The inside? We were not able to get a perfect match with the wood trim already in our home. The new window trim is darker than what we have. Changing all the wood trim in our home is not an option and so much of it. Any suggestions on what to do to make it feel like they tie together more? Should I try getting side tables in one color or the other? Picture frames?

I guess painting the wood trim is out of the question? I know people strive to have the 'wood' look, but I prefer painted windowsills, floor and door trim. My hardwood floors still outshine the colors on the walls!
I guess you could switch out tables and such, but all stained wood doesn't have to match.

I have read that all stained wood does not have to match in a home, but guess I was thinking that concept applied to furniture....that different stains in furniture make a room/home more interesting. Does this same concept apply to wndow trim and door trim and base boards? We have carpet on the floors or dura ceramic tile, so at nothing on the floor that fights with the wood.

Wait a few weeks until you get used to the new woodwork, and you will probably see that it blends well. I had a lot of trouble getting used to wood flooring, after I got rid of the off-white carpeting. Looked to me like I was in the "wrong house".........but now I "see" that it was the right choice.

My sister just gave me that same speech....wait a bit and get used to it. Thanks for saying that to me, too. I just did not want to go to the huge expense of getting these new windows finally and then having our home look piece meal or something like that. I know....the windows were not suppose to be a decor thing....functional and all that, but the wood turned in to a decor thing for me.
