I was born in California . I have owned many houses. I should have made this change before. I sold my last house in California and now I have moved to New Mexico . I have always loved New Mexico and have seen many sights here which I appreciate . There is no perfect state . California property taxes made my  change  a decision that I do not regret . I left my family and friends . I want to enjoy my time that I have left and not worry about " Money and more Money".  I do not spend money as I used to . I am in a new development and brand new home with a $30 HOA. In a year my life will be better financially . I have not given up much . I feel that my life is better . Many young families  many dogs and am surrounded with new homes. I will always claim California as my home .

God has made this possible.

@shelbyshelbyshelby.  Welcome to New Mexico!  I retired here 26 years ago and love the quirky place.  My parents were here and needed help when I retired so now I'm here alone since they're gone.

Where are you?  I'm in Rio Rancho.   Our poster, @Travone, recently retired and also moved to the area.  @Just bee also lives in the area.

@shelbyshelbyshelby Awwww, we will miss your presence in California...but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.  California housing is a tough cookie for sure.  I have always said I wouldn't want to buy my own house back. No way woukd I pay the money, taxes etc on this place lol luckily we bought 40 years ago.  New Mexico is a nice change.  The weather is different.  I have a few friends who moved to Reno, NM, and it was a change, but they got used to it. The lack of humidity was one, but easily fixed.  Have fun! And enjoy a little financial freedom and security.  That is the best reward of all.

Geographically Yours Welcome: New Mexico (Steins)

We left the San Francisco Bay Area in 1995 and bought a house on Albuquerque's Westside.  There wasn't a lot on the Westside thirty years ago, but things have changed.

May we ask where you decided to settle?

Congratulations on your move!

I get it - I moved from the state I was born & raised several years ago.  Just as you did.  Don't go by me ... unfortunately I recently moved back due to family matters.  Woman Frustrated

I've heard wonderful things about New Mexico and look forward to reading about your new adventures.

Enjoy!
