The pic posted here looks very nice. I like the colors you used too.

ITA When I go into someone's bathroom and the shower curtain is closed I assume the bathtub is dirty.

That does look pretty. I like vintage looking things, and I love fabric and pattern, and I like to bring that into my bathroom, so this is a look I like. The nice thing about it, is that it has a traditional look while not looking dated (at least not to me). I'll have to rethink this curtain idea, and may incorporate it into my husbands bathroom.

when I first read OP I envisioned ruffles, pink/mauve, land of precious look. But the black curtain look does look more modern with clean lines.

My mom, who is in her late 80s, has this look in her bathroom. It is pretty the way she has it done. She has a soft lavendar print for the shower curtain. Her bathrrom is the same size & layout as the photo PKB posted.
I used to have it years ago & many people still decorate this way. I never thought of it as trying to look like a window. It is just decorating. I prefer a simpler look these days & have a white shower curtain that allows the light from the window in the shower to get through & brighten the room. My shower curtain is usually kept half open so the water can dry after a shower.

I've always kind of liked the tailored version of this look, though I don't have mine like that right now. I never thought of the tie-backs trying to make it look like a window. One advantage to it is that it conceals storage poles and/or the storage rack that hangs over the base of the shower head. I don't think it's necessary for my guests to see my shampoos, razor, etc.

So do I....and I always peek to see if it is.
