LL, I started to frame my cross stitch and ended up loving shadowboxes. I love creating art with stuff. 99% of my work is conservation and everything is hand wired or sewn into place for easy removal in the future with no harm done to the items. I love teaching others to make them and have even taught children. Since no one can determine the worth of anything we frame using the correct products is so important.
I do hope the OP chooses to buy the book/DVD and learns how to do most of the work herself. It will be way worth the money and it's loads of fun. She could order the frame and mat cut to the size she determines after learning the techniques we use. If she is like me, she has many more finished pieces just waiting for framing in the closet.

This is one of my pieces. Everything is removable with a snip of wire or thread.

If you are near a Hobby Lobby, they do custom framing, also.
