Need help with item!

Recently purchased the ED spools of garland but having a hard time unwinding them from the spool. Anyone else have trouble getting it off the spool?  TIA!

Ed is an entertainer - she just buys at quanity bargin rates - ups the price and peddles it.  Perhaps they are old items and glue/sticky whatever is causing the problem.
