Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

Well spent the majority of my day shopping & looking for frig, actually I find it exhausting too many choices! I have decided I do not want ss and cream (almond) are hard to find & not sure about white. I think I've decided to get a counter width French door style and prior to ordering my neighbor has the same style kitchen and has invited me to take a look at her new one so I can get an idea of the look. (She does not like the freezer part as she said you have to really bend to get into freezer). Interesting enough I told the sales person all the noise my frig is making (in Lowes) and he told me it could be a small mechanical adjustment to the fan -- that would be a nice surprise if that is what's wrong with it! Then I could put the $$$ towards a new farmhouse kitchen set (I can live with the frig awhile longer!)

Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

I use the refrigerator more than the freezer, so would rather stoop to get into the freezer than the refrigerator, as I do it less often... The side by sides I've seen are just awkward, with neither side being wide enough to easily store items. While I'm sure wider models are available, I don't personally want the refrigerator taking up half the wall... I'll stick with the French door top and freezer drawer on bottom... Incidentally, maybe your current model is making in noise in protest of you insisting on calling it a frig instead of a fridge...

It looks in the picture in your other thread like all your appliances are white, though maybe they aren't... If they are, though, why would you be considering a refrigerator in a different color than the other appliances?

Stevieb: I am reading your last line and I'm laughing saying "omg I am really getting soft in the brain -- if my kids made this spelling error I'd be all over them (they're grownups now) yet, auto correct originally made the word frog & I didn't catch it & I didn't realize I spelled it wrong too!" So my fridge is going to be happy I guess now that I'm spelling it right & funny thing it's been quiet all nite! I agree I would use the top more than the freezer portion. Thanks again for your cute way of telling me I had a spelling error!!! Have a great weekend!

I think I'd like the single door/freezer bottom type (we had that growing up) now I'm going to head out to Lowes to see what's on the clearance section. I guess if I factor in the life expectancy of the frig it not too bad ... Been having a lot of sticker shock lately as I haven't bought major appliances in years! Thanks for all the input!

If you wait until November, you can get the best deals. That is the very best time to buy appliances. We waited past the sale in 2013 and had to wait another whole year until we found the deal we wanted.

Love my Samsung French Door! It has 2 ice makers, one in the door and one in the freezer, which I understand you can only get at Lowes. The freezer is deep so it holds a lot. I love that the shelves are so much wider than those on a side by side, so you can fit platters or lasagna dishes easily. Good luck, I know you'll enjoy yours if you decide to go ahead with it. They are expensive, for sure, we bought ours, as well as all of the other appliances, on the no interest payment plan. They were paid for before we knew it, and now we have years of enjoying them!

Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

Do you think that maybe you have a piece of paper that some how got pulled in where the fan is and when the fan come on it is hitting the piece of paper? Asking this question because that is exactly what happened to me a small piece of paper fell on the floor some how it got under the refrigerator and was lodged against the fan. My nephew came here and he said why is that refrigerator making that racket? We pulled it out from the wall and he took the back off and there was this piece of paper lodged against the fan. Problem solved no more noise. I kept that refrigerator for 5 more years.

On 1/15/2015 homedecor1 said: Love recess: that's my concern with the bottom freezer besides the opinions here my friends all say the freezer is ""awkward"" and takes awhile to get used to & stuff falls over the sides if your not careful not to fill it to much. I'm sure I'll have to make a decision soon because the frig I have is definitely going to go sooner than later!
This is the style I have. I could take it or leave it. The freezer is small. I have to stack stuff and then have to move everything to find things. I had a lot of trouble with the handle falling off. Can't put a lot of weight in the drawer. I ended up buying a small chest freezer and put most things in there. That stopped the handle problems. I wouldn't say that I have an excess of things to put in the freezer. I think the freezer is just too small. The ice cube maker takes up room too. Not sure what direction to go when the time comes.

I have a french 4 door newer Samsung large frig. LOVE it! I'm happy with the freezer size but I have a spare frig in our garage for ""overflow""!
