Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

I just got a Samsung bottom freezer , I love it, stainless steel. It was too big to fit in the kitchen so we put it in the garage. We need 2 refrigerator s , have a big family and shop at Costco.

Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

I loved the large shelves in the refrigerator part of the french door fridge. The freezer-eh, not so much. There were some small baskets but it was always hard to keep it organized. We had to clean it out more often just to find the stuff that had fallen to the bottom.

We decided to go back to a side by side. I was very happy to have an ice dispenser in the door again. It drove me crazy when everyone would stick their (dirty) hands in the ice bucket to get ice. (Something to think about if you/your family uses lots of ice.)

We had an LG french door and quality was not great - several plastic parts broke within the first two years of owning it and ice came out of the ice cube bin every time we opened the freezer. If the doors were not closed just right, they would pop open again. That annoyed my husband to no end!

We are not rough on our appliances-we previously had a side by side for 10 years and have had this one for 3 years - all without parts breaking.

Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

Guess I'm in the minority-I had a French door with bottom freezer and hated the freezer part-it was hard on my back (disc problems) and I felt you could never get it organized, everything was stacked on top of each other-went back to side by side...

Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

Update: oh goodness now after shopping I'm so confusedSmiley Sad 1. Love the French door style YET the freezer it's not deep. 2. Single upper door /freezer bottom. Nice but can't work due to space to open in my kitchen (would block doorway area when opened). No water/ice dispenser on door -ugh would have to put hand into bin to get ice (not liking that). 3. French door style with ice/water on door - love it! Today I went to 3 places and each salesperson gave me ""their"" pros/cons of each frig. Most of them agreed freezer space is NOT the best & most of the French door size may not fit in the opening OR thru my doorway and I am limited space wise I may be better doing a side by side (ugh!). I'm going to take a 2nd look next week and then make a decision after I re-measure although I have decided to go with the retailer with the best prices. Thanks again I hate decisions!!!!

I love my French Door fridge. It replaced my side by side and fits twice the amount. Plus I love the beverage door that opens without opening the big doors, comes in handy especially if you have kids in and out of it.

I really Do like THIS one particular refrigerator. If I can find THIS ONE and not settle for a 'stainless steel', it's will be a buy. I haven't read what brand it is, though.

However did see something close to it in a LG...don't have any great fondness for any LGs applicances but love the space.

I am shopping, now for a range...having a very difficult time finding one that does have weight to the door when I close it. .............Thought about a Bosch.

What brand and Model Number is this?

They took the doors off of our to get it through our door. We have 36'' inch door openings in our home.

Wow the salesperson at the store must work on commission he called me tonight to say they can do a better price & yes they can get it thru my door by taking the doors off, etc. Too bad I'm terrible at making major decisions on big purchases I told him I'd let him know. Poor guy had to get me but I'll have to live with my choice for years & I want it to be right.

Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

My daughter got a Kenmore Elite French door fridge almost a year ago.....loves it. I am at her house a lot and love the fridge space since it seems so much bigger than my side by side........I do think the freezer is awkward for me because I feel like I'm almost standing on my head to get stuff from the bottom.

Love recess: that's my concern with the bottom freezer besides the opinions here my friends all say the freezer is ""awkward"" and takes awhile to get used to & stuff falls over the sides if your not careful not to fill it to much. I'm sure I'll have to make a decision soon because the frig I have is definitely going to go sooner than later!

Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

I have a side by side that is close to 30 years old (hotpoint). I would like to be able to put a frozen pizza in the freezer but that is not a real hardship - the thing fits perfectly in the space and I am having a hard time finding anything comparable. It's noisy, but it works, and I don't need a huge fridge! I think this thing is about 17 ft2, more than enough for two people. I don't want an ice/water dispenser on the front. I need it in almond. Can't be deeper than about 29" w/door. Good luck finding that one! (plus it has really groovy faux wood handles)
