Re: Need frig recommendations - not doing side by side again

I have a counter-depth Subzero with a freezer compartment on the bottom and a single upper door. I purchased it before the French door style offered now. It is so easy to see what is inside because the refrigerator shelves are shallow and very wide. It makes it easy to access. Subzero offers several choices of front panels for their refrigerators. I have stainless steel since our kitchen is fitted with restaurant stainless appliances.

Love our Samsung French 4 door!!! One bottom door can be either freezer or refrigerator. This is a large one though, so may not fit your specs.

There is no fun in doing nothing when you have nothing to do.

I agree with Okeydokey, a single door top, and bottom freezer would be my choice. Space constraints would keep me from getting anything over 22 cubic feet.

My late aunt was very petite and always had to special order a refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. We all (kids) thought it was so strange, but until the day my uncle died (a few years after my aunt) that was the only kind they ever had. They had a huge garden, and she used to freeze a lot. I was always amazed at how much she could fit in there! Right now, we have a side by side. When the time comes, I want a freezer-on- the- bottom style too. I'm not a stainless girl, so I hope they're available in white! Smile

We had one before we moved and sold it to a friend. I miss it to this day. My husband liked the bottom freezer even though he was tall (probably because he was accessing the regular food on top, more. He didn't do the cooking.) I loved that thing and I'd buy another in a second.

We recently purchased a French Door refrigerator and I like some posts were not sure of the freezer capacity. Will say there is plenty of space, but since I do make extra and freeze you might think about getting a small freezer. We did and we put in the basement so now I have more than enough space.

We bought a white Samsung French door fridge 2 months ago, and I like it a lot! It doesn't have the center drawer, though.

You need to measure your space side-to-side and top-to-bottom. My space was only 36" wide, the fridge was 35 3/4" I think...it just squeaked in!

I consider the freezer large for my needs, but that's subjective, and I do have a large chest freezer in my laundry room.

You probably need to go to the store and look in person.

We purchased this same fridge in block and we love it. We did not want the door dispenser because with great grandchildren it gets too messy. We do have the ice maker, but it is just in the freezer part, which gives us a bit more room in the refrigerator section. This fridge does have a filter, which alerts you in the info lights when it needs changing. Seems to need that quite often, but it is supposed to filter the water going to the ice make. The filters are a bit expensive (around $30.00 I think), but the ice does taste better than our regular ice maker with no filter.

Good luck in your search.

Love my LG French door refrigerator! It has LED lighting and is so nice and bright when opened up. It has a push back shelf for when you have taller items. Love that the icemaker is built into the door and not taking up any room. The bottom freezer is really big. Has a built in sensor that allows diagnosis via cell phone in case of problems. Had a Whirlpool for 10 years before that.
