DS is leaving tomorrow to visit some of his college friends for the week. He wore his favorite shorts to lunch today and got chicken tikka masala sauce on them. I've tried all of my favorite stain removal methods - and nothing is working. Can anyone help? TIA!!

Sorry that happened. Sounds like you have a curry stain...bright yellow? I eat many curry dishes and have it end up on my clothes unfortunately. Depending on the fabric, I have had luck with hydrogen peroxide, regular bleach (if tolerated), color-safe bleach, baking soda paste and straight vinegar. Curry stains are best removed as soon as possible. Don't let them set.

I suggest using peroxide as well. Several times during platelet donations, I get blood or iodine on my clothing, and the nurse uses peroxide immediately. I wash the item as soon as I get home, and have never had a permanent stain.

Peroxide does not harm the color?

I'd give OxyClean a shot. I buy the powdered stuff and mix it up with warm water in a spray bottle. It's worked well on wine, pet, tomato sauce and other stains.
I spray on before washing, let it sit on the stain and if clothes I then wash.

No, if you don't let it set there for a long time. Most color-safe bleach's active ingredient is peroxide.

Try some Dawn dishwashing liquid on it (or any brand), let it set a little before washing. This has worked for me, especially greasy stains.

Yes to this, for greasy stains! And pick up some Shout Wipes. These are foil packaged wet wipes with Shout stain remover and I swear by them. I keep some in my purse, my desk, and my suitcases. You pull one out and rub it into the stain immediately. It won't remove the stain entirely, but it's never failed me in terms of preventing a stain from setting, even if I toss the item in the hamper and wash it days later. Give some to your husband for his wallet. They will dry out if kept in the heat (like a hot car) or over time, so I replaced mine every 4-6 months, even if I haven't used them.

This is what I have used to remove red wine and pet accidents from the carpet. There was no discoloring of the carpet.
About 1/4 c. hydrogen peroxide
Couple of drops of dish soap, like Dawn
About 1/4 c. water
Dab it on. My stains disappeared. The proportions are adjustable, depending upon how much you need to clean.

I carry them in my purse as well, saved me and family or friends many times.
