At some point, I've used all three of the products mentioned---Old English scratch cover, furniture stain markers, and black Sharpie pens (for black items).

 

All three work fairly well.  You can buy the set of three or four furniture finish markers at BedBathBeyond, if you're looking for a supplier.

We eat every day on our wood kitchen table so it gets some scratches. My housekeeper cleans it with a product called REJUVENATE. It covers all those scratches.
