I do have a nice neat home. I am meticulous about making sure that everything is in its place. So when you are finished with it put it away. I clean up our kitchen right when we are finished eating, so that when I do sit down to relax, everything is finished and neat.

I think you have to be somewhat organized and also everything needs to have its place, otherwise like another poster said you are just shuffling things around....I don't have a large home, and it is just my husband and I now, but even when our girls were home, they were taught to put things back where they found them. To me it takes discipline! But it can be done.I think houses should be and look lived in and not look spotless at evey moment necessarily, but I like for mine to be picked up and clean.....

Re: Neat and Organized Home

[ Edited ]

2 years ago, I rented out my upstairs small bedroom, 10'x11'. I rented to a 30 yr old male professional - and he stayed for 1-1/2 years. He told me that he was moving out as he was getting married - so when he was at work, I opened the door to the room. I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, scream, etc. He was a HOARDER!!!!! The room has a walk-in closet and a dresser ---- but all his clothes/junk was thrown on the bed, on the floor and the floor into the closet. He moved the bed from the center of the room to the wall and he brought in his own desk. More junk on the desk.

When he got home, I called him a few names and he didn't say a word.

I emailed this situation to a male friend I know and he told me that his brother-in-law does the same thing. Then, I realized that my roomie has a disorder.

His girlfriend came over during this time and she said they took an apartment together and she gave him some juice in a cup - and he didn't know where to put the cup. I always see the positive side of things - and I got lucky that they met at work --- and now she's stuck with him.

After he moved out, I called a handyman who painted the room/bath and I had the carpets steam vac'd. I really needed to get his aura out!!!!!
