@blondegirl

Your review is interesting. Saatvas is another one I've heard such positive thing about. However, I didn't know those came in a box. That would be a "no deal" for me!

Something in a box seems to "sink and dip"!  A mattress needs to be firm and supportive IMO.

Aren't they made in  Finland or Sweeden? Would have expected much longer life and better quality than you've had with yours.

@Bookplate - I would encourage your friend to look around. Saatvas look great because of the reviews but they do not seem to allow most of the not-so-great reviews. I have had two saatvas because I want a non-toxic mattress and they deliver. Neither have held up. They replaced the one after a year. The replacement is now four years old and needs to be replaced again. Not sure if it's the industry as a whole, the "ingredients" in the non-toxic mattresses or just Saatva but I will be trying another brand when I find one that doesn't get delivered in a box.

@blondegirl Thank you; I will be passing this info on to my friend.

@BirkiLady  I agree with you 100 percent on this deliver in a box mattress.

I think it's the luck of the draw.  No, they are not made like they used to be.  I can't stand any mattress that has sagging in the body shape.

I've loved Serta extra firm and it was "stealth" - never sagged in 10 years a bit!

Now the next one, same price, same description is sagging at a few months. ugh.

Let's just accept it.  Things are not made to last anymore.

On the other end of the price scale, I bought a Rimensy 10" queen mattress from Amazon for a tick over $200 (I think it was $206 and it's now $195.95) and it's been great. It's a hybrid coil spring gel-infused memory foam mattress. I've been using it daily since last July and it's still like new. They call it medium firm but I'd say it's more plush than medium firm. Absolutely no problems with it and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

We have a Saatva mattress. Yes, it came in a box and took two men to carry it into the house and get it through the door. They opened and set it up. We were leery at first but it worked out fine. Probably have had it for ten years and still no sinking in any spots.

The Queen size mattress on our master bed is easily 20 years old or older.

It is made with springs and has a plush really thick pillow top on both sides so it can be flipped over.

I was about $3500 way back then.  I can honesty say it is still comfortable and has not broken down at all.  I have it covered with two mattress pads....one waterproof and it still looks new.

Last summer I replaced the queen matress at our summer place.  I paid $1800 for it.  Since we don't sleep on it full time or year around, I didn't want to spend too much for it.

It is comfortable, but not as comfortable as our old mattress at home.

When you think about it, since we spend so much time sleeping, it makes perfect sense to buy a good mattress.  A good night sleep is important and as we get older, we don't need a mattress that causes back, leg or neck pain.

Hi.
You said it came in a box, do you mean it was rolled up in a box like so many foam mattresses are? I was going to purchase a Saatva Classic in the luxury firm or the firm.

I had an expensive pillow top queen size mattress, it felt great at the store but I found I sunk into it causing terrible back pain so returned it for an old fashioned flip mattress, love it & its price.

What do you mean by a flip mattress?

@Carmie

Your mattress sounds like mine. Don't know if they still make mattresses with the pillow tops on both sides, but I love mine! It's also close to 10 years old, but feels like new. My son and grandson flip it every six months for me.  Would you believe I used to flip that mattress myself?
