For those of you who think these look like junk....have you've seen them in person? I doubt it. I like quality items, don't like clutter, don't care for girly or cutesy things inside my home, & I adore the spheres. I own 3 colors, & I leave the amber out year-round on my fireplace (I place them on top of pottery vases- looks gorgeous). I know present day mercury glass isn't the same quality as it was, but I'm still loving these. They're magical, warm, & inviting.

I'm happy with the new set of 3 size....very easy to decorate with. I never put mine outside, so I'm not sure how or if they survive the elements. I say keep them coming!

I feel the same way! I waited to purchase these last year and they sold out. I tried finding them on eBay and they were nowhere to be found. When they came back in, I purchased them in lavender and I ordered the blue/green TSV for summer lighting.

I don't expect them to last forever (I think they look like glass, good quality ). I bought them for their uniqueness/ambiance. I am going to try them on top of the mantle (good idea-thanks).

Valerie's sets are so creative. I have always enjoyed her Home shows. I hope they/she stay around for a long time to come!

I guess I prefer more natural looking décor. I only like shiny and lights at Christmas.

I don't mind the mercury glass. But, I could see going overboard with it.

The problem with this mercury glass is that it is such poor quality.

I would like to see some thing, anything, like Valerie made in the past. A quality product. I see so little of that now.

I think many people would be willing to pay for more quality products.

I completely agree with you. I have many decorative items from the VPH collection of the past and there is no comparison to what is being marketed today. I bought an item a few weeks ago and had to glue the bottom onto the jar as soon as I opened it. There's no reason that an item should be made so shabbily. The items that I have from her shows of the past are at least 18 years old and they still look like new. I don't see many of these new items lasting even more than a season or two.

I for one would definitely pay more for a quality product. The current items being sold are a perfect example of you get what you pay for.

We all have different tastes and decorate/don't decorate our spaces in unique ways. And that's the way it should be. The following are my observations after buying/using Valerie's mercury glass items.

All my VPH "mercury glass" items are glass. They are not plastic. I haven't broken any yet but someone who has broken one of the spheres said they "shatter like old-fashioned glass tree ornaments."

As to the bad quality of items with them having nicks, gouges, etc, I guess I've been incredibly lucky. None of my mercury glass sphere sets, pumpkins or trees are full-priced from QVC. They came from Ebay, the Q outlet or the Q "as is" section. I would imagine that any/all of them were returns from someone and yet they ALL work; none are damaged in any way.

As to them "eating batteries"--when a set of batteries lasts for two plus months and gives me 5-6 hours of light/day using the timer, I'm totally satisfied.

Again this is JMO. I happen to love the spheres and all of Valerie's mercury glass items that I've bought.

She (the OP) never answers or responds ... wonder why?

Because HSN only pays her for the starting post to stir the pot? Just a thought.

I certainly hope you are not speaking to me. I have the 3 different size spheres. And yes they are poor quality. For those that do not know there are gouges and nicks on the outside (not the places the light is supposed to shine through) and these show the light and are rough to the touch. I just put them out for Easter. This is the first I have used them so they are not old used items.

Don't assume that someone that doesn't care for the quality of something doesn't have it. I just like a higher quality product.

I bought a set of the 3 different size spheres at Christmas time. My are not scratched, gouged or rought. The don't eat batteries either. I've had mine out on timer since right after Thanksgiving and am only on my second set of batteries, and they are alkalines that I recharged in my charger station. I will probably put fresh batteries in when these go dark this time.

I love the look of mercury glass, the Pottery Barn catalogue makes me drool, but I have 2 young cats. Can't do deco with glass.

Some people don't always go back to see if there are responses to their post unless they have asked a specific. I know sometimes I do but not always. I will though if I am the OP.
