My cat smells like QVC!

I need advice! I ordered one of Valerie's small rugs and put it down yesterday. One of our kitties thought I put it there for him. When I came down this morning, I thought how cute it was and I wouldn't have to worry much longer about the edges curling up. Well - you know the "QVC smell" that often comes on fabric items? He just jumped up in my lap and he smells just like that - all over! I'm going to wipe him down with a pet cleansing cloth, but what can I do to get rid of that odor on the rug? I don't want to use Febreze or anything that might hurt him. TIA! {#emotions_dlg.scared}
