Re: More Color In French Country Room

Well, this is certainly better than the room with no color.  However, there are so many elements I still don't care for.  The artwork for one and I'm not a fan of a neutral room w/ neutral furniture with the accessories being a mix of patterns and textures that don't really blend well overall.

I like color, but I'm not loving the color combinations in this room. Would be better without the blue coffee table & patterned drapes IMO. I really dislike the painting over the entryway to the right.

@Kachina624   It is very hard to find rooms like this or even rooms that I like that don't have white sofa's and chairs.

I have often said.... down through the years, that I would NEVER have a white couch so I do understand that. Now, here I am with a cream couch with tan running through it. It is very light.

At our age our grandchildren are all grown and married and my daughter hosts all the holidays so no little kids.  Also, I had my Aussie trained not to get on our  couch  until I covered it no matter what color the couch.  He would go stare at it till I threw the quilt on it. You would have thought he was a "Pointer" dog!  Ha!  It really was funny.  There he stood and would stand and stand until I did it!  Being a dog lover, I finally just kept the quilt folded on the couch and did it promptly.  Who trained who ....I wonder?!

Re: More Color In French Country Room

I love this, @jubilant  and do prefer it to the white room, which to me, was more homogenized and cliched, more representative of a pinterest-type room that is momentarily trendy.

This one has sophistication, and real personality, the items look like they were collected over time, not purchased all at once.   Fabulous clock, pillows, art.

I never object to white couches, although I don't want one personally.  With today's performance fabrics, and especially slipcovers, anyone who craves white or off-white upholstery can have it.

Great idea you had to contrast the two rooms!

Re: More Color In French Country Room

@Oznell   Thank you. I'm glad you liked my idea. It's hard to come up with different things sometimes.

My new cream colored couch has made such a big difference in my great room. It really lightens it up which is what I had hoped for. Surprisingly enough, I don't worry about dirt at all.  Of course, I suppose I would if I still had small children and a pet. I figure if my "great-grandchildren" come over I can cover it with one of my quilts.

I agree with you about this one.  I am taking my time picking things that I love and I find unique to us.

Re: More Color In French Country Room

I love the clock!  Quite unusual!

This room is a little too formal for today.  There are quite a few patterns.
